  • Patent number: 10237812
Abstract: Techniques for sending an aggregated beacon in a cognitive wireless network are disclosed. A beacon device may segment beacon information and send beacon segments via a plurality of channels simultaneously. A certain information elements of the beacon information may be included in each beacon segment. Each beacon segment may include channel information for other beacon segments that are transmitted simultaneously. Alternatively, a discovery beacon may be transmitted in addition to a regular beacon. The discovery beacon may include information indicating an operating channel on which the regular beacon is transmitted. The discovery beacon may be transmitted using a predetermined channel bandwidth, with a smaller beacon interval than the regular beacon, or in a frequency hopping fashion. The discovery beacon may be sent on a channel selected based on a regulatory class and corresponding channel information. The discovery beacon may be transmitted on a side channel.

  • Publication number: 20180368038
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing multiple connections or interfaces at the same time may be disclosed herein. For example, in an embodiment, a first RRC connection may be established between a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) or user equipment (UE) and a network node such as an eNB and a second RRC connection may be established between the WTRU or UE and the network node such as the eNB or another network node such as another eNB. • Patent number: 10117158
Abstract: Methods, systems, and instrumentalities are described to obtain application-based connectivity. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may, in response to a request to access a connectivity-sponsored application, establish a control connection over a first access network for contacting an application connectivity coordinator. The establishment of control connection may include sending an attach request, receiving an IP address for a control link to the application connectivity coordinator, and receiving an IP address. Using the control connection, the WTRU may send an access network discovery request to the application connectivity coordinator. The WTRU may receive, from the application connectivity coordinator, a list of access networks. The WTRU may select a second access network from the list of access networks to access the connectivity-sponsored application.

  • Publication number: 20180295549
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for supporting advanced distributed and dynamic mobility management (DMM) features with multiple flows anchored at different gateways. A software defined networking (SDN) controller may support the attachment of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a network. The SDN controller may receive initial attachment signaling from a point of attachment (PoA) indicating that the WTRU initially attached to the network. The anchor node may be a distributed gateway (D-GW). The SDN controller may select an anchor node to serve the WTRU Internet protocol (IP) flow traffic. Initial attachment signaling, intra-anchor node handover, inter-anchor node handover, new anchor node allocation and inter-domain mobility across virtualized operators are also described.

  • Publication number: 20180270300
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for providing Information Centric Networking (ICN) within a network, comprising detecting a request for content from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that is in the network, selecting a network element for the WTRU to attach to, wherein the network element is selected without regard to properties of the content requested, and providing the content to the WTRU. A request to publish content from a WTRU in the network may include determining, based on content name, whether to publish the content in the network or outside the network, and if the content is to be published in the network, selecting a network element for the WTRU to attach to, wherein the network element is selected without regard to properties of the content requested, and causing the network element to accept the content from the WTRU.

  • Publication number: 20180227390
Abstract: Network nodes are described. A network node includes a transmitter, a receiver and a processor. The transmitter transmits at least one signal advertising the network node as the source of at least one specific content located outside of an information centric network (ICN) or a specific domain or all content located outside of the ICN. The receiver receives a request, from a requesting device, including an identifier for a piece of content for which the at least one signal advertised the ICN as the source of. The processor, in conjunction with the transmitter and the receiver, determines a forwarding rule for the request based at least on the identifier included in the request, forwards the request based on the determined forwarding rule, receives the piece of content, and forwards the received piece of content to the requesting device. The network node may be a Border Gateway translating between ICN and IP networking.

  • Publication number: 20180212962
Abstract: Approaches may be used for enabling coordinated identity management between an operator-managed mobile edge platform (MEP) and an external network. A token may be generated in the MEP that may associate a mobile network identity and an external network identity. The token may be negotiated on a per-session basis or on a per-wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) identity (WTRU-ID) basis. In an example method performed by a WTRU camped on a small cell network covered by the MEP, an enterprise bring your own device (BYOD) client (EBC) application may establish a secure link with an enterprise BYOD agent (EBA) application running on the MEP using an initial connection procedure. The EBC application may initiate an application-level authentication procedure with an enhanced evolved packet core (EPC) network. The EBC application may generate and provide a token to the EBA application via the established secure link.

  • Publication number: 20180167850
Abstract: Embodiments contemplate that the transfer of an Internet Protocol (IP) address from one (e.g. a first) Gateway (GW) to another (e.g. a second) Gateway (GW) may improve the Dynamic Mobility Management (DMM) handling in any network environment, including a dense network environment. Embodiments contemplate a dense network may enable a User Equipment (UE or wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)) to be connected to the closest GW while the IP address transfer may enable the usage of a relatively short data path (e.g. perhaps a “shortest” data path), which may be useful in the context of DMM, perhaps even for existing flows. Using the contemplated capability of moving IP addresses may minimize the number of IP addresses allocated and/or the number of tunnels to be maintained.

  • Patent number: 9913275
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) receives a downlink transmission from a Node-B and decodes the downlink transmission. If the decoding is not successful, the WTRU sends a pre-defined burst signifying a negative acknowledgement (NACK) to the Node-B via a contention-based shared feedback channel. The pre-defined burst may be sent only once without requiring an acknowledgement. The Node-B calibrates a downlink transmit power so that the downlink transmission is transmitted to the WTRUs with a high likelihood. The Node-B may send a downlink transmission including multiple data streams processed using different modulation and coding schemes so that a WTRU having a high signal quality decodes all data streams while a WTRU having a low signal quality decodes less than all data streams. The Node-B sends a channel quality indicator (CQI) threshold so that each WTRU determines a data stream to report feedback based on the CQI threshold and a measured CQI.
