    Abstract: Process for the purification and separation of a synthesis gas stream containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in which synthesis gas is purified in a purification unit (W) involving a methanol washing step to remove carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide depleted synthesis gas is purified by adsorption (P) to produce a purified synthesis gas stream and the purified gas stream is sent to a cryogenic separation unit (C) where it is cooled and separated by cryogenic separation in a column of a column system, at least one stream (13) enriched in carbon monoxide is removed from a column of the column system, warmed and divided in two, one part of the stream being removed from the cryogenic separation unit as a first stream, the other part of the stream forming a second stream (13B, 15B) and being sent to the purification unit wherein it is warmed and the warmed second stream is mixed with the first stream.

    Abstract: From the CO2-containing stream of process gas obtained in a process for the treatment of a CO2-containing stream of process gas, which is obtained in the production of pure synthesis gas from raw gas in the partial oxidation of heavy oils, petroleum coke or wastes, or in the gasification of coal, or when processing natural gas or accompanying natural gas, CO2 is removed physisorptively or chemisorptively, and the solvent loaded with CO2 is expanded to a lower pressure for the desorption of CO2. In order to generate CO2 as pure as possible, the contaminated CO2 is condensed to at least 60 bar[a] or below its critical temperature to at least 70 bar[a], and the impurities contained in the liquid CO2 are removed by stripping with gaseous CO2 guided in counterflow.

A favorable option of the method consists in the use of CO2 reclaimed by desorption of laden methanol as purge gas.
