  • Patent number: 4135760
Abstract: A sliding door assembly for motor vehicles includes a supporting system mounted on a frame of the motor vehicle and a door carried by the supporting system for sliding longitudinal movement. The supporting system has an arm pivotally mounted at one end to the frame of the motor vehicle and carries a multi-part guide head for pivotal movement at the other end. The door supports a horizontally extending guide rail for substantially the entire width of the door for cooperative engagement with the guide head to accomplish sliding movement of the door. The guide rail includes support fittings and a pair of tubular members in spaced parallel relationship carried between the fittings. Opposite surfaces of the tubular members form sliding guides for sliding engagement with the guide head.

  • Patent number: 4094533
Abstract: In a seat belt system for a motor vehicle, there is provided an arrangement for mounting one or more safety belts including a shoulder safety belt or a pelvis safety belt or both, with one end of the belt being connected to a center portion of the vehicle body and the other end of the belt being connected to the inner side of a sliding door which opens into an intermediate position parallel with the side wall of the vehicle body. The safety belt is locked automatically when the sliding door is closed and opened automatically when the sliding door is opened. The end of the safety belt attached to the door is connected by a pivoted lever which operates in cooperation with another pivoted lever mounting the door to the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 4047737
Abstract: In a seat belt system for a motor vehicle, a shoulder safety belt and a pelvis safety belt are provided with one end of each belt connected to a center portion of the vehicle body and the other end of each belt connected to the inner side of a sliding door which opens into an intermediate position parallel with the side wall of the vehicle body. The safety belts are locked automatically when the sliding door is closed, and opened automatically when the sliding door is opened.

  • Patent number: 4025104
Abstract: A tilting lever is mounted between a pivotal guide head and one side of a sliding door for a vehicle. The tilting lever is made of two angularly spaced arms with abutment surfaces at one end. The abutment surfaces engage with abutment surfaces and cam surfaces on the guide head and sliding door so as to hold the tilting lever in one of two positions. In one position the guide head is prevented from pivoting, while in the other position the sliding door is prevented from sliding. The guide head and sliding door are mounted together on a supporting arm pivoted to the body of the vehicle whereby the sliding door is first moved to an intermediate position and then to an open position.

  • Patent number: 4019775
Abstract: A supporting arm and a rod, each having one end pivoted to a guide head in which a sliding door for a vehicle is longitudinally movable and the other end pivoted to a vehicle body, are of equal length so as to form a parallelogram linkage. The pivots of the supporting arm and the rod are offset relative to each other, accordingly, when the sliding door is opened to an intermediate position parallel with the vehicle body, it will move perpendicularly to the vehicle body.
