  • Patent number: 9815549
Abstract: The emergency landing gear actuator for aircraft utilizes a pair of airbags for rapid emergency deployment of landing gear when the conventional hydraulic actuator fails. In the retracted position, the at least one wheel of the landing gear is stored in a first cavity formed in the lower portion of the wing. The shock strut and the side strut are stored in an adjacent second cavity formed in the lower portion of the wing. First and second airbags are respectively mounted in the first and second cavities. The first airbag and the second airbag are each selectively inflatable for emergency deployment of the at least one wheel, the shock strut and the side strut. When the hydraulic actuator fails to deploy the landing gear, the first and second airbags are inflated, forcing the shock strut to rotate and position the at least one wheel in its deployed position.

  • Publication number: 20160243902
Abstract: The eversible tire includes a casing having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The casing includes laterally opposed first and second sidewalls. The first sidewall has a bead edge and an opposed outer edge. The second sidewall has corresponding inner and outer edges. A first bead is disposed along the bead edge of the first sidewall. The first bead has first and second lateral extensions. A second bead is disposed along the bead edge of the second sidewall. The second bead has corresponding first and second lateral extensions in mirror image to the extensions of the first bead. Each of the beads are laterally symmetrical with respect to the first and second surfaces of the casing to permit the eversible tire to be installed upon a wheel with either its first surface and first tread or its second surface and second tread facing outward.

  • Patent number: 9222840
Abstract: The dual temperature sensor for an engine includes a first sensor configured for detecting the temperature of an engine and for generating at least one information signal corresponding to the detected temperature of the engine, and a second sensor configured for detecting the temperature of the engine coolant and for generating at least one information signal corresponding to the detected temperature of the engine coolant within the engine. An insulator is positioned between the first sensor and the second sensor. The dual temperature sensor is mounted in the thermostat housing such that the first sensor of the dual temperature sensor is positioned outside the thermostat housing wall so that the first sensor is in communicating relation with the engine and the second sensor of the dual temperature sensor is positioned inside the thermostat housing in communicating relation with the engine coolant.

  • Publication number: 20150180185
Abstract: The multi-socket power adapter includes a main housing unit and an extension unit mounted inside the main housing unit. The main housing unit includes a recess for the extension unit. A ribbon cable wound on a spool is housed inside the extension unit. The ribbon cable protrudes through the extension unit into the main housing unit to establish an electrical connection, which allows the extension unit to be used as a conventional extension cord. The extension unit includes a plurality of power plug sockets and a power switch for each plug socket so that power to each socket can be controlled. The main housing unit also includes a power switch and a power consumption monitor.

  • Patent number: 8544793
Abstract: The adjustable angle inlet for turbojet engines provides for the adjustment of the nacelle inlet as the angle of attack of the aircraft changes. The adjustable inlet system thus assures that the nacelle inlet is always oriented directly into the relative wind as the angle of attack of the aircraft changes, e.g., during takeoff, landing, and high-G maneuvers where the aircraft reaches relatively high angles of attack. The adjustable angle inlet is adaptable to most turbojet-powered airplanes, but is particularly well suited for use with aircraft having their engines mounted on lateral pylons on the rear of the fuselage. The system operates according to signals received from an angle of attack sensor. The sensor controls an actuator, which rotates a shaft that is connected to the pivotally mounted inlet of the engine nacelle.

  • Patent number: 8528312
Abstract: The turbojet engine inlet and exhaust covers are permanently installed at the inlet and exhaust outlet or nozzle of an aircraft turbojet engine installation. The covers preclude the entrance of small animals, windblown debris, snow, and/or other contaminants into the engine inlet or exhaust while the airplane is inoperative. The covers have an iris-type shutter configuration, each cover having a plurality of leaves pivotally attached to a circumferential stationary housing that is attached to the engine or nacelle. A rotary ring is rotated through a small arc to pivot the shutter leaves inward and outward to close and open the engine opening. The rotary ring may be driven by an electric motor, or by hydraulic or pneumatic power. The system may be automated to close according to engine temperature after flight, and/or to open upon initiation of the engine start sequence for the aircraft.
