Further, the device includes an electrical housing including a channel open at its two ends and housing electrical terminals in contact with the terminals of the probe, and an electrical extension lead affixed to the housing and connected to the terminals of the housing. The channel of the housing is open at the other one of its ends and the device further includes a waveguide at least partly housed in the central channel of the probe, all the way to the distal portion of the probe, and a transmitter housing capable of being connected to the waveguide for the injection of a predetermined wavelength.
