    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of allocating communication resources in a communication system. The method includes retrieving from the communication system the present communication system resource allocation (402); identifying for a tuning cell allocated communication resources which do not satisfy the allocation criteria (410); identifying candidate communication resources within the communication system which satisfy the allocation criteria (416); allocating the candidate communication resources to the cell (424); repeating these steps for each cell marked for retuning (404) and downloading the new communication system resource allocation to the communication system (406).
