  • Patent number: 5254170
Abstract: An enhanced vertical thermal reactor system provides three isolated chambers including a wafer handling chamber, a process chamber including an elevator, and a cool-down chamber, each sealed from the other. The sealing of these individual chambers, each from the other, has the effect of minimizing processing delays associated with the cooling process and the loading and unloading process to thereby improve the productivity of the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4487602
Abstract: An injection device particularly suitable for the intraruminal injection of ruminants is described. The injection device is characterized by a needle carrying means and a needle actuation means, which are operatively coupled such that the needle actuation means permits movement of the needle carrying means from a retracted position to an extended position, wherein the needle is capable of piercing the rumen, only when the needle carrying means is in a preferred orientation (e.g. perpendicular) to the surface of the host animal at the injection site. The injection device is further characterized by a dose delivery actuation means which is responsive to the relative position of the needle carrying means and the needle actuation means such that the dose is delivered to the host animal only when the needle carrying means and the needle actuation means are in a preferred position relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 4474572
Abstract: An implanting device for implanting pellets and like subcutaneously or intramuscularly in animals is described which utilizes means for indexing an implant magazine having a plurality of pellet-containing stations therein and means for automatically retracting a needle from about an implant charge to deposit the pellets in an animal. The implant magazine is indexed for sequential applications automatically as the retraction mechanism is cocked. Additionally, means for automatically ejecting a spent or empty implant cartridge are provided to prevent false deposition of implants. An implant cartridge having open channels containing implants can be utilized with the implanting device, the channels having means thereon for increasing the size of the channel during the implanting step to substantially eliminate the crushing or breaking of pellets as they are expelled from the cartridge. Alignment and stabilization means for the implant magazine and the implanting device also are provided.
