  • Publication number: 20230241992
Abstract: Systems and methods for in-transit charging of an electric vehicle. An electric autonomous vehicle (EAV) may request charging services when its battery level falls below a threshold. The EAV may be in transit to a destination when the charging service is requested. A charging range route may be determined for the EAV. A charging-AV may identify one or more candidate merge points. If a feasible merge point is identified, the charging-AV may transit to the merge point and platoon with the EAV. The EAV and charging-AV may platoon with each other so that the charging-AV may provide charging services to the EAV. Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications may be used to synchronize the moments of the charging-AV and EAV while in transit.

  • Publication number: 20220400068
Abstract: Using key performance indicator (KPI) data sensed by vehicles is provided. A data server is programmed to receive, over a wide-area network from a plurality of vehicles, connectivity data of modems of the plurality of vehicles to the wide-area network, the connectivity data indicating KPI data, which road segment was being traversed when the KPI data was captured, and a time period during which the KPI data was captured. The data server is further programmed to identify outlier data elements in the KPI data using outlier detection criteria; and compile the KPI data per road segment and time period excluding the outlier data elements.

  • Patent number: 11423705
Abstract: Toll advertisement messages (TAMs) are broadcast via V2X communication, each of the TAMs indicating geographic locations of lanes of a roadway for which tolls are due and cost information for traversing the lanes of the roadway. A tolling usage message (TUM) is received via the V2X communication, the TUM indicating, to a roadside unit (RSU), information regarding a vehicle entering one of the lanes of the roadway and a unique random account identifier to be used by the RSU to identify the vehicle. A toll receipt message (TRM) is broadcast via the V2X communication, the TRM including the unique random account identifier and indicating, to the vehicle, a final cost charged to the vehicle for access to the one of the lanes of the roadway.

  • Publication number: 20220176986
Abstract: A system determines at least one driving style, reflecting driving behavior for a driver of a vehicle and based on inputs from a plurality of vehicle systems. The system receives a plurality of wireless signals from elements within a wireless communication range, each signal indicating the behavior of one or more drivers of other vehicles within a predefined distance of the vehicle. Further, the system determines, based on the wireless signals, whether one or more drivers are exhibiting behavior comparable to the driver of the vehicle based on predefined comparison thresholds and, responsive to determining that one or more drivers are exhibiting comparable behavior, provides guidance as to how to maneuver the vehicle to reach the vehicles driven by the one or more drivers exhibiting comparable behavior.

  • Patent number: 11037382
Abstract: A computer system is in wireless communication with a plurality of vehicles, each of the vehicles equipped with appropriate environmental sensors. Environmental reports are sent from the autonomous vehicles to the computer system using a V2X protocol or the like, and relate to such matters as worn line markings, obstacles on the roadway, and other conditions. The computer system is configured to evaluate the received environmental reports for accuracy. A comparison with similar environmental reports is made, and if there are few or no such reports for the location, an indication is reported to the vehicle that the vehicle's sensors may have a problem. The evaluation can be presented with a degree of confidence, taking into consideration various factors such as frequency of vehicles traversing the location, weather, time of day, etc.
