By way of example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit UE capability information to a base station (e.g., eNodeB (eNB), next-generation NodeB ((gNB)) in a connection establishment procedure. The UE capability information may include a UE category identifier and a baseband capability parameter. The baseband capability parameter may indicate a scaling factor for a first modulation order of a plurality of available modulation orders. The UE may communicate with the base station over multiple layers using corresponding modulation orders for the multiple layers.

In order to prevent a collision between processing communications associated with the different length TTIs, the UE may drop one or more communications on corresponding channels with longer processing timelines to receive and/or process the transmission on the channel with a shorter processing timeline. Additionally, the UE may transmit uplink control information (UCI) for the one or more dropped communications, where the UCI may include hybrid access request (HARQ) acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NAK) feedback, channel quality indicator (CQI), precoding matrix indicator (PMI), rank indicator (RI), etc. If a downlink transmission is dropped, the UE may transmit a NAK message. Alternatively, if an uplink transmission is dropped, the UE may transmit at least a portion of the UCI.

The CSI update capability may be a joint CSI update capability provided for all communication types. Based on the CSI update capability of the UE and the set of priority rules, the UE may prioritize the updating of one or more CSI processes.

In accordance with the described techniques, a base station may transmit, and a user equipment (UE) may receive, signaling configuring the UE to transmit (or receive) a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) in an indicated transmission time interval (TTI) of a plurality of TTIs, where the DMRS is used for demodulation of a data symbol transmitted in a second TTI of the plurality of TTIs. In various examples, the base station or the UE may determine to skip a data transmission in the indicated TTI (e.g., depending on whether the transmission is in the uplink or downlink direction). The base station or the UE may then transmit the DMRS in the indicated TTI and the data symbol in the second TTI.

    Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow an apparatus to efficiently indicate downgraded band combinations associated with carrier aggregation (CA) to a base station, in which one or more UE capabilities such as the DL MIMO of certain supported band combinations may be downgraded in exchange for other UE capabilities such as FD-MIMO and 256/1024QAM. The apparatus, which may be a UE, receives a request from a base station for information associated with downgraded band combinations and for information corresponding to at least one UE capability associated with each of the downgraded band combinations. After receiving the request, the UE sends, to the base station, information indicating the downgraded band combinations and the at least one UE capability. The UE may thus report downgraded band combinations for a subset of supported band combinations as requested by the base station, thereby minimizing capability reporting of the UE.

    Abstract: A base station may transmit a grant to user equipment (UEs), indicating uplink resources for transmission of pending data at a UE. Uplink resources may include uplink resources associated with transmission time intervals (TTIs) and/or shortened TTIs (sTTIs). A UE may identify pending data associated with a data type (e.g., low latency data, internet traffic, etc.) and transmit a scheduling request (SR) for a grant of uplink resources. The data type of the pending data (e.g., the logic channel group identification (LCG ID) associated with a buffer status) may be indicated such that uplink resources may be granted to the UE to reduce latency. In some aspects, the SR may indicate uplink resources associated with sTTIs. Further, the UE may prioritize pending data and buffer status reports (BSRs) associated with other data within the received grant.

The UE may receive the reference signals in the subset of the sTTIs and use these reference signals to perform channel estimation for demodulating data received in other sTTIs. In some cases, the UE may use the reference signals in one or more previous sTTIs in combination with the reference signals received in a current sTTI to perform channel estimation for demodulating data received in the current sTTI.
