  • Patent number: 10687242
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing V2X communications are generally described. The multimode UE communicates V2X messages with an eNB. The eNB detects whether the UE is able to receive messages from a nearby DSRC RSU based on measurements received from the UE and reported to the eNB. Based on the measurements, the eNB offloads V2X traffic to the DSRC RSU and triggers the UE to start communicating the V2X services from the DSRC RSU rather than the eNB. The measurements are reported in a BSR or DSRC MAC control element or RRC measurement report. The measurement report includes DSRC presence fields, CCH measurements and SCH measurements for each DSRC RSU that the UE is able to detect.

  • Patent number: 10681525
Abstract: Technology to support access-class-barring (ACB) skipping for commercial and public-safety user equipments (UEs) is disclosed. A cellular mobile network experiencing congestion at the core network level can be configured to send a communication to UEs indicating that ACB may be skipped by UEs seeking to establish device-to-device (D2D) communication using a first mode of D2D resource allocation wherein D2D resources are allocated by the network. In addition, the network can be configured to send a communication indicating that a second mode of D2D resource allocation wherein D2D resources are allocated by the UEs may be used as an alternative to the first mode. The network may also indicate that the second mode can be used as a fallback when current ACB parameters indicate that use of the first mode is not currently permitted.

Abstract: Technology for eNodeB operable to perform vehicle-to-anything (V2X) communication within a wireless communication network is disclosed. The eNodeB can Process a data packet containing vehicle-to-anything (V2X) identification information that is received from a user equipment (UE). The eNodeB can identify the data packet as a V2X message according to the V2X identification information. The eNodeB can determine the V2X messages are to be forwarded to a V2X function. The eNodeB can process the V2X message for transmission directly to the V2X function via a V2X interface.

  • Patent number: 10531366
Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments for Machine Type Communication (MTC). The techniques disclosed may reduce signaling by transmitting MTC data over control planes and avoiding a full cycle of connection procedures typically required for transmission. MTC data may be directly appended to a control plane message. In addition, in order to reduce the signaling load, a WTRU may autonomously release the connection without being told by the network. Techniques may be used to indicate a network provider's machine type communication (MTC) capability. The MTC services or capabilities that may be provided by a respective network operator may be communicated to a WTRU.

  • Patent number: 10404542
Abstract: Method and apparatus for supporting machine-to-machine (M2M) communications in a hierarchical network architecture including an M2M gateway are disclosed. An M2M entity, (such as M2M device, M2M gateway, or M2M network entity), may perform a service capability discovery procedure to discover an M2M service capability entity that may provide an M2M service capability, and register with the discovered M2M service capability entity. The address or identity of the service capability entity may be pre-configured or obtained from the dispatcher server. The M2M entity may indicate a support M2M service identifier and receive an identity or address of the M2M service capability entity mapping the service identifier. The gateway may advertise M2M service identifiers supported by the gateway so that the M2M device may access the gateway if there is a match. The address of M2M service capability entities may be obtained from the core network.

  • Patent number: 10390189
Abstract: User Equipment (UE) may skip the Access Class Barring (ACB) procedure for specific services, such as MMTEL voice, MMTEL video, and SMS. In one implementation, NAS layer of a UE may: receive, from an upper layer relative to the NAS layer, a request for a particular service type that is being originated by the UE; receive an indication, from a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer of the UE, that access to a cell, associated with the UE, is barred; and bypass the indication that access to the cell is barred, when the particular service type matches a predetermined set of service types. The bypassing may include: requesting that the RRC layer establish an RRC connection for the service request, and notifying the RRC layer that the request for the RRC connection corresponds to the particular service type.
