  • Patent number: 6932888
Abstract: A flexible press cover which has an additional strengthening element in at least one of its two end regions. As a result, in the end region, the tensile strength and the tensile rigidity in the circumferential direction are increased with respect to that hitherto known in such a way that it is no longer necessary to clamp the press cover end region in between two components. Instead, the press cover according to the present invention is suitable to be fixed to the outer circumferential surface of a rotatable supporting element belonging to the cover carrying disk without the aid of an outer ring, a clamping band, clamping filament or the like. In the most beneficial case, the arrangement for fixing the press cover to the aforementioned supporting element is completely free of any kind of fixing elements which would be associated with the cover outer surface.

  • Patent number: 6208915
Abstract: A method for the on the whole minimum-fuel, computer-assisted control of an optionally determined number of thrusters, arranged as desired on a spacecraft, is to be specified, which method solves this linear optimization problem within the shortest possible time by reducing the computation expenditure. The method depends on the dual simplex algorithm and a suitably provided dual permissible start table. The dual permissible start table is set up on the basis of a previously computed optimum table and the transformation of the actual forces-moments vector belonging to the selected start table. Specific processing steps in the dual simplex algorithm are either not needed at all or are substituted with processing steps that require considerably less computation expenditure. Finally, a reduced table is used in place of the simplex table.

  • Patent number: 5935385
Abstract: A press device, e.g., a shoe press device, for treating a sheet of material, e.g., paper or cardboard, in an elongated press gap elongated in a travel direction of the sheet of material. The press device may include a flexible roll jacket that runs around a stationary carrier, an opposing face that forms the elongated press gap with the flexible roll jacket, and at least one of a hydrodynamically and hydrostatically lubricated support element supported on the carrier. The support element may include a compression face adapted to a shape of the opposing face and at least one cloth belt guided through the elongated press gap. The support element may further include an entry face for the flexible roll jacket and for the cloth belt and positioned before the compression face in the travel direction of the sheet of material. • Patent number: 5753083
Abstract: A shoe press device for treating a web, particularly for dewatering a web. A shoe press roll has a beam and a flexible press jacket around the beam. A press shoe on the beam presses the press jacket against a backing roll to define a press nip. Support elements supported on the beam press on the shoe. The support elements are in a first plurality along the shoe and a respective second plurality toward each end of the shoe. The second support elements are smaller in size with reference to their pressure area on the shoe, and there is one or more rows of second pressure elements at each end of the shoe. Different respective pressures may be applied to the main and second pluralities of support elements. The backing roll may be a sag adjustment roll including a rotatable roll jacket and support elements in the sag adjustment roll pressing on the roll jacket.
