  • Patent number: 7714459
Abstract: A locking device for a steering spindle, includes a locking bolt arrangement and a control element coupled thereto, such that the locking bolt arrangement can be displaced in the axial direction between a locking position and a release end position by rotating the control element. An electronic control unit controls a motor drive and a sensor arrangement, coupled to the control unit for detection of at least one axial position of the locking bolt arrangement. The control unit switches off the motor drive when the locking bolt arrangement is displaced in the axial direction from the locking position to the release end position. The sensor arrangement emits an output signal which displays when a switching off position of the locking bolt arrangement has been reached.

  • Patent number: 7582984
Abstract: An electronic steering lock includes a power supply control unit and a locking assembly. The power supply control unit provides a supply voltage for locking the assembly via a ground supply line and a voltage supply line. The locking assembly is only supplied with a supply voltage and ground when a voltage with respect to ground is present on an ignition supply line, which is indicative of the ignition being switched off. The locking assembly includes a locking motor supplied with voltage and ground, whereby the ground supply of the locking motor is provided via a ground supply switching device. The locking assembly further includes a control circuit which controls the ground supply switching device. The control circuit produces a control signal which opens the ground supply switching device when the voltage on the additional input connection is indicative of the ignition being switched on.

  • Patent number: 7445257
Abstract: The invention relates to a closing system comprising handles (20) for operating latches that are inoperative when in a locked position, and only enable the latch to open when the latch is in an unlocked position. In conjunction with an access authorization device, the approaching of a hand to the handle (20) can be sensed in advance by a capacitive sensor thus enabling a very early reversing of the latch into the respectively desired position. To this end, two electrodes (51, 52) are integrated inside the handle (20), and a shielding (53) is located between these electrodes. One electrode (51) generates an inner field (50) between the handle (20) and the vehicle (10) and, with the vehicle body, acts as a capacitive inner sensor. The other electrode (52),however, generates an outer field (60) with regard to the surrounding area of the vehicle. When, during normal use of the handle (20), the hand passes into the area of the inner field (50), a first function in the latch or vehicle is carried out.

  • Publication number: 20070279300
Abstract: A transmitting antenna arrangement for emitting a longwave wake-up signal for an ID transmitter in a keyless motor vehicle system includes an induction coil. The coil includes at least one winding and a core surrounded by the winding is arranged inside a component of the motor vehicle. The core is shaped as a flat strip and includes several layers placed on top of each other, containing a nano-crystalline or amorphous soft-magnetic metal alloy having a high permeability. The thickness of each metal layer is between 15 ?m and 100 ?m and the layers are placed on top of each other in such a way that the flow of current from one metal layer to another adjacent layer is made more difficult.

  • Patent number: 6768413
Abstract: A closing device for a vehicle door lock is actuated by a hand lever. The lock can be switched between a secured, inoperative position of the hand lever and an operative position in which the lock can be opened by the hand lever. An electric control device arranged within the vehicle effects via an antenna of a vehicle-correlated transmission and reception unit a data request directed to a data carrier external to the vehicle held by a vehicle user. The data carrier has a transmission and reception unit transmitting a data reply via the antenna of the vehicle-correlated transmission and reception unit to the control device which, for a positive identification of the data carrier, triggers securing, respectively, release of the lock. The antenna of the transmission and reception unit is arranged in the hand lever in addition to at least some further components of the transmission and reception unit.

  • Patent number: 6075294
Abstract: In a locking system, used for instance on a vehicle, a switch or sensor initiates the interrogation of a data storage medium via a control unit to check for access authorization. If access authorization is given, the control unit releases the locks of the locking system automatically. To improve user convenience regarding the system release, at least one capacitance sensor in at least one door grip is provided. At least one first electrode of the sensor is situated in the inner shell of the door grip and a second electrode is placed in the door area opposite the grip. By applying antipole voltage to both electrodes, an electrical field is generated between the two electrodes. When a hand, which acts as a dielectric, approaches the grip, a change in the cumulative dielectric state between the two electrodes occurs. Such a change is recognized by the capacitance sensor and transformed into an electric pulse which initiates in the electrical control unit interrogation of the data storage medium.

  • Patent number: 4723121
Abstract: A simple and economical, yet tamper-proof, electronic locking apparatus for motor vehicles features an electronic key and an electronic lock, which each contain a synchronized, constantly operating, precision oscillator. The output of each oscillator is applied at a predetermined counting rate to a respective number sequence generator. Both generators contain the same predetermined number sequence, which they step through at the same clock rate, applying the instantaneous value of the count to a first input of a respective computer. A second input of each computer is connected to a fixed memory which supplies a permanent, characteristic code number to the computer. Both the count state and the characteristic code number are combined using corresponding algorithms in the key and in the lock to produce a combination code. The key-produced combination code is sent from a transmitter in the key to a receiver in the lock and compared there with the lock-produced combination code.
