  • Patent number: 9160682
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed herein for providing wireless network communication nodes with opt-out capabilities. Such capabilities may, for example, allow particular customers to opt out of a typical full-scale communication mode such that their associated equipment operates at least temporarily in a limited communication mode. The limited communication mode may limit customer exposure to emissions resulting from RF communications near their homes or other areas, which may be attractive to customers such as those with health or other emission-related concerns.

  • Patent number: 9156069
Abstract: Solid waste to be treated is introduced into the interior of a rotary autoclave that is downwardly inclined towards its discharge end and has a door at the discharge end. Steam is injected through said door via a plenum chamber in the door so that water and steam pass through a one-way device and then directly into the interior of the autoclave. The one-way device prevents the solid waste from entering the plenum chamber from the interior of the autoclave. The plenum chamber is defined between a region of the door and a plate secured to the door at a small spacing inwardly of the door. The outlet is defined in the plate and the one one-way device is fitted to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 9159502
Abstract: A supercapacitor is provided with a method for fabricating the supercapacitor. The method provides dried hexacyanometallate particles having a chemical formula AmM1xM2y(CN)6.pH2O with a Prussian Blue hexacyanometallate, crystal structure, where A is an alkali or alkaline-earth cation, and M1 and M2 are metals with 2+ or 3+ valance positions. The variable m is in the range of 0.5 to 2, x is in the range of 0.5 to 1.5, y is in the range of 0.5 to 1.5, and p is in the range of 0 to 6. The hexacyanometallate particles are mixed with a binder and electronic conductor powder, to form a cathode comprising AmM1xM2y(CN)6.pH2O. The method also forms an activated carbon anode and a membrane separating the cathode from the anode, permeable to A and A? cations. Finally, an electrolyte is added with a metal salt including A? cations. The electrolyte may be aqueous.

  • Patent number: 9158657
Abstract: Features are disclosed for facilitating remote access to the state of an application or content item currently executing or rendered on a user computing device. A connection between the user computing device and another computing device (or connections between the user computing device and an intermediary system, and between another computing device and the same intermediary system) may be established according to a bidirectional communication protocol. The user computing device may receive and act on communications from the other computing device, including requests for data regarding the current state of an application or content page on the user computing device, instructions to execute some function in the application or content page, etc. In addition, user computing devices may be grouped such that an application or content may be monitored/tested/debugged among a variety of user computing devices.

  • Patent number: 9155767
Abstract: The invention extends the utility of apparatus used to extract medicinal cannabis compounds into an eluate by separating a portion of medicinal cannabis compounds contained within a portion of eluate at a first extraction target level providing enough clean solvent to continue extraction operations. A high efficiency concentrator such as a rotary evaporator or a wiped film evaporator processes eluate from one or more tanks or extraction vessels creating clean solvent when extraction targets are met or when clean solvent is exhausted. This manages eluate concentration levels and limits the quantity of concentrated medicinal cannabis compounds on site at any moment in time. The invention enables a business model for keeping medicinal cannabis compounds within a legal system, and reduces pollution because law enforcement would no longer have to burn large quantities of cannabis plant matter.

  • Patent number: 9158775
Abstract: A system and method for generating a real-time stream of content from heterogeneous data sources and a real-time index. The heterogeneous data sources include search, entertainment, social activity and activity on third-party sites. A fetching unit retrieves recent content that is indexed in the real-time index according to keywords. A model generation engine generates a model based on user activities. The mixer compares candidate content items from the heterogeneous data sources and the real-time index to the model to generate scores for each item and generates a stream of content based on the scores.

  • Patent number: 9160612
Abstract: A method creates a distributed virtual switch (DVswitch) and distributed virtual ports (DVports) for the DVswitch. The DVswitch binds virtual switches in a collection of hosts together in a software abstraction. Also, the DVports are available for connection by virtual network interface cards (VNICs) of virtual machines in the collection of hosts. A request is received for a connection of a virtual network interface card (VNIC) of a virtual machine for a host in the collection of hosts to a DVport. If the requested DVport is available, the method provides connection information for the requested DVport to the host to allow the host to connect the requested DVport to the VNIC. The DVport stores a runtime state for a virtual port associated with a virtual switch for the host and the virtual switch forwards network frames between the VNIC and a physical network interface card (NIC).

  • Patent number: 9158311
Abstract: A thermal control system for a data center room, for controlling an ambient temperature in the data center room to meet an ambient temperature set point, receives multiple ambient temperature votes from multiple fan controllers positioned in the data center room each for controlling fan speeds for at least one separate fan from among multiple fans each positioned within a separate system from among multiple systems within the data center room. The thermal control system sets the ambient temperature set point to a lowest ambient temperature specified in the multiple ambient temperature votes, such that the thermal control system and fan controllers operate as independent systems, but are integrated for selecting an ambient temperature that minimizes the power required for controlling a thermal environment in the data center room.

  • Patent number: 9159637
Abstract: An electronic device includes a mold package which encapsulates a portion of the electronic device and does not encapsulate another portion of the electronic device to enable a sensing portion of the electronic device to be exposed to a condition to be sensed. In an electronic sensing device having a sensor formed by a substrate such as silicon, a sensor area is not encapsulated, but areas surrounding the sensor area are encapsulated. The area surrounding the sensor area includes one or more trenches or interlock structures formed in the surrounding substrate which receives the mold material to provide an interlock feature. The interlock feature reduces or substantially prevents the mold from delaminating at an interface of the mold and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9160666
Abstract: A method is implemented in a network element of a service network. The network element executes a packet processing element (PPE) of a plurality of PPEs, where each PPE in the plurality of PPEs executes a stage of packet processing for the service network and where the plurality of PPEs are connected to one another by a plurality of switch fabrics. The PPEs self-select a subset of a set of equivalent service chains to service with each service chain defining a subset and sequence of the plurality of PPEs. Each PPE self-selects the subset of equivalent service chains to process based upon knowledge of the plurality of PPEs servicing that stage of the full set of service chains such that there is spreading of load across all available PPEs in that stage. There is no single point of failure and minimal reassignment of PPEs for a set of equivalent data flows traversing the plurality of PPEs of the service network for changes in topography of the plurality of PPEs in the service network.
