  • Patent number: 10405991
Abstract: An instrument (200) for positioning a hollow cup component (202) of an orthopedic joint prosthesis and assembly thereof are described. The instrument includes a support member (204) having a plurality of jaw members (208) unitarily formed around its periphery. Each of the jaw members has a cup engaging limb (210) extending in a first direction to be received in a recess on an external side wall of the cup component. Each jaw member is pivotable between an engaged position in which the cup engaging limbs are displaced inwardly and a disengaged position in which the cup engaging limbs are displaced outwardly allowing the cup component to be removed from between the jaw members.

  • Publication number: 20190110798
Abstract: A cutting block comprises a body having a top surface for guiding a saw blade, and a top plate connected to the body. The top plate can move between a first position in which the top plate is spaced apart from the body and a second position in which the top surface of the top plate is an extension of the top surface of the body. The top plate has first and second resiliently deformable arms extending from it, spaced apart along the top plate, and the body has first and second recesses formed in it extending substantially perpendicularly to the top surface of the body. The first and second arms on the top plate are inserted in the recesses so that the arms and the recesses define the path for movement of the top plate relative to the body between the first and second position.

  • Publication number: 20190060008
Abstract: A motion-assisted positioning arm for a medical procedure. The positioning arm includes a base, an arm coupled to the base, and an end effector coupled to the arm. The arm includes a plurality of arm segments. The arm includes a plurality of joints for connecting the arm segments. The end effector may be manipulable with six degrees of freedom in a task-coordinate space based on motion by at least one joint in the plurality of joints. The positioning arm includes a processor to: detect manipulation of and determine forces or torques acting on the end effector; determine a surgical mode for constraining movement of the end effector in the task-coordinate space; determine an end effector velocity based on the determined forces or torques and the surgical mode for moving end effector; and apply at least one joint space movement based on the end effector velocity.

  • Patent number: 10217610
Abstract: Methods for controlling bevel etch rate of a substrate during plasma processing within a processing chamber includes securing the substrate on a lower electrode within the processing chamber. A power source is provided. A gas mixture is flowed into the processing chamber. A first match arrangement coupled to an upper electrode is adjusted to control current flowing through the upper electrode to change the upper electrode from a grounded state to a floating state. A second match arrangement coupled to a top ring electrode is adjusted to control current flowing through the top ring electrode so as to control plasma formed above a top edge of the substrate. An extension of the upper electrode is lowered during plasma processing so as to minimize a gap between the extension of the upper electrode and the substrate received on the lower electrode, such that the gap is incapable of supporting plasma formed in the processing chamber.
