  • Patent number: 5929735
Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating mounting of an inductor assembly to a printed circuit board that is easy to assemble into any mounting scheme and which assures that an adequate clamping force to overcome vibration forces is provided. The apparatus includes an inductor assembly, a spacer assembly adapted to receive the inductor assembly, a wedge member for engaging one side of the inductor assembly and for distributing a clamping force substantially evenly about the inductor assembly, and a bushing disposed through each of the inductor assembly, the spacer assembly, and the wedge member, such that when a clamping force is applied to the wedge member, the inductor assembly is clamped to the spacer assembly.

  • Patent number: 5670924
Abstract: The subject invention provides an inductor mounting assembly that is easy to assemble into any mounting scheme and which assures that an adequate clamping force to overcome vibration forces is provided. In one aspect of the present invention, an inductor mounting assembly is provided. The inductor mounting assembly includes an inductor assembly, a spacer assembly adapted to receive the inductor assembly, a wedge member for engaging one side of the inductor assembly and for distributing a clamping force substantially evenly about the inductor assembly, and a bushing disposed through each of the inductor assembly, the spacer assembly, and the wedge member, such that when a clamping force is applied to the wedge member, the inductor assembly is clamped to the spacer assembly.

  • Patent number: 4665376
Abstract: Linear potentiometers are commonly used as position sensors on various mechanical devices. Such potentiometers are frequently subjected to extreme vibratory excitation, which is known to cause premature failure. The subject potentiometer includes a housing having interior walls defining a cavity. First and second guide slots are linearly disposed along the cavity walls parallel to the housing. A wiper block is positioned and is axially movable within the cavity. The wiper block includes first and second slide rails linearly disposed along the wiper block and extending outwardly from the wiper block at a location sufficient to project into respective ones of the guide slots. Each of the first and second slide rails has a plurality of tapered engaging portions positioned adjacent respective surfaces of the guide slots.

  • Patent number: 4538036
Abstract: An electrical switching apparatus (10) for use as a battery disconnect device in a vehicle reduces sparking resulting from the switching of electrical currents by controlling the rate at which such switching occurs with a cam (22) and follower (20) arrangement. The apparatus (10) includes a housing (12) having a cam (22) and a shaft (18) having a follower (20). The shaft (18) extends through the housing (12), and through a movable contact (14). The cam (22) includes first and second detents (28,30) disposed substantially radially opposite one another about the shaft (18) along a first elevational plane. A third detent (34) is annularly positioned between the first and second detents (28,30) and located along a different elevational plane. The third detent (34) is spaced relatively annularly near one of the first and second detents (28,30), and spaced relatively annularly distant from the other of the first and second detents (28,30).
