Patent number: 10444352Abstract: A Sodar apparatus is disclosed for sounding the atmosphere. The apparatus includes a transducer for converting an electrical signal to an acoustic wave and/or vice-versa and transferring means associated with the transducer for transferring the acoustic wave towards the atmosphere and/or for transferring a reflected acoustic wave from the atmosphere. The apparatus further includes isolating means or structure for isolating or attenuating the acoustic wave such that energy of the acoustic wave transferred in a substantially horizontal direction is reduced below energy of the acoustic wave transferred in a substantially vertical direction by a factor of at least 45 dB and more preferably by a factor of at least 70 dB. A method for sounding the atmosphere is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2015Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: Windbidco Pty LtdInventor: Andrew L. Martin

Patent number: 10305492Abstract: The frequency of a clock signal is compared to a predetermined range. If the measured frequency is outside the range, a system controller determines if a current operating state of the overall system allows for the internal clock to be adjusted back into compliance. If the controller determines that the current system state allows for the change, then a control signal to the internal clock signal source is changed by the smallest increment available, either to increase or decrease the frequency. If the internal clock signal is out of the desired range, and the system controller does not decide to modify the frequency, the controller may increase the size of the range by decreasing the lower bound and/or increasing the upper bound.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2017Date of Patent: May 28, 2019Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Andrew L. Martin, David W. Palmer

Patent number: 8527675Abstract: System and method for implementing a secure processor data bus are described. One embodiment is a circuit comprising a processor disposed in a processor partition, the circuit further comprising a first set of peripherals disposed in a first peripheral partition; a second set of peripherals disposed in a second peripheral partition physically isolated from the first peripheral partition; a first state control register for controlling access to the first set of peripherals by the processor; and a second state control register for controlling access to the second set of peripherals by the processor. When the first and second state control registers are in a first mode of operation, the processor has read and write access to the first set of peripherals and write only access to the second set of peripherals.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2011Date of Patent: September 3, 2013Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Allen M. Patent number: 4920543Abstract: A method and apparatus for visually characterizing modulated carrier signals, particularly digitally modulated microwave signals, which may be subjected to multipath fading distortion. The method involves sampling the amplitude dispersion of the received signal during a test period, counting the number of times the sampled values fall within each of a number of value ranges and displaying the count per range against range so that counts corresponding to positive and negative amplitude dispersion values are shown in a symmetrical fashion. The shape of the resultant display provides a useful characterization of the signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1988Date of Patent: April 24, 1990Assignee: Australian Telecommunication CorporationInventor: Andrew L. Patent number: 4766600Abstract: A method of characterizing a modulated carrier signal by generating electrical signals which represent arithmetic ratios and which can be used to construct a histogram indicative of the quality of the modulated carrier signal. For a digitally modulated carrier signal, time spaced samples of in band amplitude dispersion of the signal are generated and first counts are made of the number of occurrences of particular values of in band dispersion, over a range of such values. The error ratio of the decoded modulated carrier signal is also monitored and seconds counts are accummulated, of the numbers of occurrences of respective values of in band amplitude dispersions which at least substantially coincide with the value of said error ratio crossing a predetermined level.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1986Date of Patent: August 23, 1988Assignee: Australian Telecommunications CommissionInventor: Andrew L.
