  • Patent number: 5669668
Abstract: A headrest is provided that can be folded by a pivot mechanism, in particular for a motor vehicle seat having a backrest, which can be attached by posts on the backrest or on a component connected to the car body in the region of the backrest upper edge and can be locked by a locking mechanism at least in an approximately vertical position of use. For simplicity of production and to increase the convenience of using the headrest, the locking device is arranged inside the pivot mechanism which has a sleeve-shaped housing with at least one journal pin rotatably mounted in it and is arranged outside the headrest.

  • Patent number: 5582453
Abstract: In a motor vehicle rear seat with a divided back rest, the individual back rest parts are hinged for the purpose of pivoting about at least one horizontal pivot axis running transversely to the travel direction via an inner hinge arranged on the inside in the region of the plane of division of the back rest and an outer hinge arranged in the region of the side wall of the motor vehicle on the vehicle body. Each hinge has a fastening part on the back rest side and on the vehicle body side. Each back rest part in the approximately vertical position of use is capable of being locked to the side wall by means of a locking device. To increase the safety of the passenger, at least on the inner hinge another locking device is provided which can be locked and unlocked jointly with the locking device engaging the side wall.
