  • Publication number: 20160146220
Abstract: A method of assembling and retaining a noise attenuation device (30) within an air inlet (16) of a compressor cover (12) includes inserting the noise attenuation device (30) into the air inlet (16) and applying a rolling compressive force to the air inlet (16) using a forming tool (40). As a result, the air inlet terminal end (17) is deformed radially inward so as to form a radially-inwardly protruding lip (17b) about the air inlet terminal end (17). The radially-inwardly protruding lip (17b) is configured to retain the noise attenuation device (30) within the air inlet (16). The forming tool (40) used to form the radially-inwardly protruding lip (17b) is also described.

  • Patent number: 9282326
Abstract: An interactive camera calibration tool is presented that provides live feedback on the state of the calibration and produces tightly-distributed calibration parameters even when used by novices. Target positions are suggested by the calibration tool. Once the target has been aligned with the target positions, image data of the target is captured and used to compute calibration parameters. This process is repeated until the computed parameters meet the accuracy requirements specified by the user. A novel calibration quality metric is also leveraged to automatically determine whether a calibration is sufficiently accurate.

  • Publication number: 20160003954
Abstract: Methods and apparatus that facilitate acquisition of seismic data. A plurality of acquisition locations within an area of interest may be determined and provided to aerial vehicles. Seismic data may be received from the aerial vehicle. In another example, an aerial vehicle includes a positioning system that determines location of the apparatus; a seismic sensor that senses seismic data; a memory that stores seismic data; and a transceiver that provides telemetric data and the seismic data to a controller device. In at least one example, a method for acquiring seismic data is provided including receiving location information at an aerial vehicle. The aerial vehicle may navigate to a location based on the location information and a seismic sensor may acquire seismic data. The aerial vehicle may be navigated to a controller device and the acquired seismic data may be provided to the controller device.

  • Patent number: 9188133
Abstract: A product is disclosed for inhibiting oil from entering a turbocharger compressor. A compressor wheel may be disposed in a wheel chamber of a housing to rotate at a range of speeds. The compressor wheel may be surrounded by a collection volute with a diffuser channeling air from the wheel chamber to the collection volute. A shaft may extend through the housing and may be connected to the compressor wheel. The shaft may be supported by a bearing that may be lubricated through an oil circuit. A pressure differential between the wheel chamber and the oil circuit inhibits oil from entering the wheel chamber. The pressure differential may be maintained during rotation of the compressor wheel at a low end of the range of speeds by a collar disposed near a tip of the compressor wheel at an entrance to the diffuser.

  • Publication number: 20150275954
Abstract: In various examples, a set screw apparatus includes a set screw including a set screw body. An abutment extends radially outwardly from the set screw body and longitudinally separated from a threaded set screw area of a first length by an unthreaded set screw area of a second length of the set screw body. A block includes a bore. A threaded block area includes a third length, wherein the abutment inhibits movement of the set screw past the threaded block area and removal of the set screw from the bore. The third length is shorter than the second length so that an entirety of the threaded block area can be disposed within the unthreaded set screw area, such that the set screw is freely rotatable within the bore, but retained within the bore, if turned in a first direction with respect to the block.

  • Publication number: 20150178466
Abstract: A method for aggregate reporting of health data includes obtaining health data for a plurality of subjects in a population associated with an entity, the health data comprising diagnostic laboratory testing results, biometric information, or demographic information. Each of the subjects is allocated to one or more dimensions based on the obtained health data and one or more boundary conditions of each of the dimensions, the dimensions corresponding to biometric or demographic information of a specified type. Whether a number of subjects allocated to one of the dimensions is below a threshold is determined. One or more of the boundary conditions for one or more of the dimensions is adjusted when the number of subjects allocated to the one dimension is determined to be below the threshold. The determining and the adjusting are repeated until a number of subjects allocated to the dimensions is not below the threshold.

  • Patent number: 8886249
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system of setting transmitter power levels, particularly in a Local Network Node transmitter, providing a pico cell for private use. A User Equipment (UE) is used to make measurements of the transmission link properties, such as downlink power and round trip time. Based on the measurements made at one or a plurality of locations, the power of the Local Network Node can be determined such that interference is minimized with any overlying cells of a macro-network. Call handovers between the UE and the cell of a macro network can also be arranged based on properties measure by the UE.

  • Patent number: 8542707
Abstract: In general, a method performed on a personal base station includes transmitting a first pilot signal to a portable access terminal operating in an idle mode in a macrocell that uses a first carrier frequency. The first pilot signal is transmitted in the first carrier frequency to allow the portable access terminal to temporarily connect to the first pilot signal. A second pilot signal is transmitted in a second frequency that is different than the first frequency. The portable access terminal is dispelled from the first pilot signal, and the portable access terminal is allowed to connect to the second pilot signal.

  • Patent number: 8503342
Abstract: A transmitter is provided having transmission methods that minimize the power needed to ensure reliable reception in a coverage area. In one aspect, data that requires re-transmission as acknowledged mode data is re-transmitted when the power level of the transmission link is higher than a pre-determined level set for reliable reception. The data rate of the re-transmitted data is set according to the difference in the actual power and the pre-determined level. In a second aspect, two transmitting antennae are used to transmit the same signals with a frequency off-set. The frequency off-set can be used to determine the phase of the signals being received at the receiver, so that a phase off-set can be introduced to optimise the effect of interference at the receiver.
