Raised side regions of the central portion also includes an indent disposed distally from the raised upper region. The end portions are securable to a support beam of the scaffolding system, where the raised upper region is substantially coplanar with an upper wall of the support beam when the support beam is coupled to an end portion.

The outer surfaces of the layers comprise traction elements, which may be of different grades, such as industrial grade on one layer and pedestrian grade on the opposing layer. A floor covering system is also disclosed comprising a plurality of modular mats disposed in partially overlapping and interlocking relation with adjacent mats.
