    Abstract: The present invention is concerned with bit map data and methods of conveying bit map data into and out of a band buffer and shift register to an image output terminal to provide either portrait or landscape printing during print time. In particular, for portrait printing; and 8 to 1 multiplexer selects one of 8 bits to send for each register scan. For landscape printing, the 8 bits are sent to a shift register and then all 8 bits are sent as part of the raster scan.
