  • Patent number: 10702187
Abstract: An infrared detector includes a radiation source configured to emit electromagnetic radiation. The detector includes a source monitoring apparatus configured to generate output signals (62) related to electrical resistance through the radiation source. The output signals are used to account for radiation source temperature in measurements by the detector. The output signals may be used (72) in the provision of power to the radiation source to maintain the temperature of the detector at a beneficial level. The detector is configured to monitor a level of a gaseous molecular species within a flow of breathable gas.

  • Publication number: 20150338340
Abstract: Gas measurement detectector configured to monitor a level of a gaseous molecular species within a flow path (18) of a flow of breathable gas that communicates with an airway of a subject is performed by infrared spectroscopy. Rather than using an individual source (20) to generate electromagnetic radiation at reference and measurement wavelengths, a near-infrared electromagnetic radiation source (22) is used to generate reference electromagnetic radiation.

  • Publication number: 20080058667
Abstract: A method and apparatus for interfacing a plurality of gas measurement systems, including a mainstream and a sidestream gas measurement system, to a host system via an interface unit. The present invention also pertains to a sidestream gas measurement system that output signals emulating the signals output by a mainstream gas measurement system or portion thereof, so that the sidestream gas measurement system can seamlessly communicate with a host system configured to communicate with a mainstream gas measurement system or a portion thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060009707
Abstract: A gas measurement system of this invention includes a detector assembly having a beamsplitter adapted to separate infrared radiation into a first beam and a second beam and a mirror adapted to receive the first beam from the beamsplitter. The first and second beams are directed to first and second detectors that are disposed in a common plane. In one embodiment, the optical elements are provided on or in an optical block. In another embodiment, the gas measurement system includes a housing that contains an infrared absorption gas measurement assembly, a luminescence quenching gas measurement assembly, and a processor that is programmed to measure gas constituents of a gas flow based on an output of the infrared absorption gas measurement assembly and the luminescence quenching gas measurement assembly.

  • Patent number: 4540000
Abstract: A signal conditioner for use with cardiographic data and other biological signals includes a baseline shift circuit and a variable gain amplifier. A feedback loop is provided for the output signal with a reference which designates the maximum value of the output signal. Within the baseline shifting circuit, there is provided circuitry which compares the amount of offset of the negative excursions of the waveform from a reference lead so as to introduce a feedback compensation signal which shifts the baseline and thereby compensates for drift in the baseline. Integration circuitry in the form of counters of clock pulses are provided in the control of both amplifier gain and baseline shift. Timing circuitry provides for the interleaving of set-up intervals with data aquisition intervals, the gain adjustment and baseline adjustment being accomplished only during the set-up intervals.
