  • Patent number: 6898553
Abstract: A plant is made up of a plurality of automatic stations for the performance of an assembly process of body parts or the like with there being in the stations automatic support and blocking means for the parts to be assembled and automatic assembly means for the parts supported and blocked and comprising in the stations measurement sensors in established measurement points for measurement of geometrical magnitudes of the parts in assembly with the measurement data taken by the sensors being received by a processing unit which takes any deformations of the parts in the various stations and goes back from the detected deformations to the causes thereof in the asembly process and emits a diagnosis signal of the presumed cause.

  • Patent number: 6722004
Abstract: A welding gun electrode reshaping device includes a head with satellites supported by a satellite holder to identify between them opposing seats for the gun electrode tip. The satellite holder is powered to be rotated around the seats to move the satellites around the electrode tip zone and cause reshaping of the electrode tip. In the seats there is a support member for the electrode tip with a surface designed for simultaneous smoothing of a ‘lense’ zone on the electrode tip. A movement mechanism enables positioning of the head in an operational zone.

  • Publication number: 20040068341
Abstract: A plant is made up of a plurality of automated stations (11) for the performance of an assembly process for body parts or the like. In the stations there are measurement sensors in established measurement points for measurement of geometrical magnitudes of the parts in assembly. The measurement data taken by the sensors are received by a processing unit (16) which detects any deformations of the parts in the various stations and traces back from the deformations detected to the causes thereof and emits a diagnosis signal of the presumed cause. For identification of errors a method in accordance with the present invention comprises an analysis step in which are ascertained measurement points and correlations are ascertained between measurements detectable in the measurement points and possible causes which might generate such movements.

  • Publication number: 20030005594
Abstract: An automated parts assembly station comprises means (11) of positioning and mutual locking of the parts to be assembled, assembly means (13) connecting the parts, and a measurement system (24) for the position of the parts to verify whether the geometry of the assembled part is in conformity with a desired ideal geometry. The measurement system (24) comprises a plurality of relative measurement sensors (15) with each sensor being arranged and fixed in a purposeful seat in an associated appropriate geometrical solid (22). The measurement system has memories containing the position of geometrical spatial specifications of the solid with respect to a reference system chosen for the station and on the basis of the contents of the memories calibrates and sets the operational measurements of the sensors to convert them from relative to the sensor to absolute with respect to said reference system chosen for the station. A calibration and setting method is also described.

  • Patent number: 6340107
Abstract: A motor vehicle body assembly and welding station comprises a pair of facing tool (12) support conformators (11) designed to work on the body and taken between them by a conveyor system (14). The conformators are movable between a rest position in which the body is free to enter and exit the station and a work position in which the tools are near the body to work on it. At least some of the tools (12) comprise measurement means (20) for the relative position of facing body parts and the conformators have an intermediate position between said work and rest positions. On command control means (19) take the conformator into said intermediate position and activate the measurement means (20) to determine the agreement of body dimensions with predetermined measurement intervals and issue acceptance or rejection signals (22) for the body on the basis of the survey result.
