  • Patent number: 10975230
Abstract: A film layer having a micro-textured surface is provided. The film layer has a continuous phase with one or more thermoplastic polymers, wherein at least one of the thermoplastic polymers is a low-modulus polymer having a 2% secant modulus of less than or equal to 140 MPa, and the film has from 10 wt % to 100 wt % of the low modulus thermoplastic polymer. The film layer also has a discrete phase with from 5 wt % to 45 wt % of a thermoplastic starch.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 2017
Date of Patent: April 13, 2021
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: Norman Scott Broyles, April Renae Brown, Arman Ashraf, Gary Wayne Gilbertson, Jeffrey Thomas Grothaus
  • Patent number: 10800140
Abstract: A multi-layered film comprising at least 3 layers is provided. When a 5 layered film is provided, the film includes a first outer layer having 80% to 100% by weight of one or more polyolefins, a first tie layer having from 5% to 100% by weight of the first tie layer of one or more functionalized polyolefins, a core layer having from 75% to 100% by weight of the core layer of polylactic acid, a second tie layer having from 5% to 100% by weight of second tie layer of one or more functionalized polyolefins, and a second outer layer having from 80% to 100% by weight of the second outer layer of one or more polyolefins, wherein the first tie layer layer is disposed between the first outer layer and the core layer the second tie layer is disposed between the core layer and the second outer layer.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 13, 2020
Assignee: The Procter & Gamble Company
Inventors: Norman Scott Broyles, April Renae Brown, Gary Wayne Gilbertson
  • Patent number: 10576718
Abstract: An improved multilayer polymer film is disclosed. The film may include a first skin layer, a second skin layer, and an intermediate layer between the skin layers. The first, second and intermediate layers may be formed of respective first, second and intermediate polymer compositions. Each layer may have distributed therein particles of titanium dioxide to a weight content of from 6 percent to 14 percent. One or both the second skin layer and the intermediate layer may have distributed therein non-white pigment particles to a weight content of from 0.050 percent to 0.15 percent of such layer(s). The contents and distribution among layers of the pigments may provide for relatively disproportionate improvement of opacity while preserving a neutral white color surface to receive ink-printing, enabling high conformity of printed colors with target colors, and preserving weldability of the film to itself.
