  • Patent number: 4338587
Abstract: A vehicle toll collection system automatically identifies vehicles traveling along a vehicle lane. The system includes a mobile vehicle identification sending unit adapted to be mounted on at least one of the vehicles for sending vehicle identification information. A stationary control unit is disposed near the vehicle lane for receiving the identification information from the mobile unit as the vehicle moves past the stationary unit to register the vehicle identity. The stationary unit includes devices which respond to the vehicle identification information for generating a vehicle signal indicating that a vehicle has been registered.

  • Patent number: 4324203
Abstract: An animal feeding apparatus has a housing for confining animal food items, such as flake-type fish food, and a mechanism for dispensing the food items from the housing for feeding purposes. The housing has an opening therein communicating with the interior of the housing, and the mechanism has a rotatably mounted member disposed partially within the housing and extending outwardly through the opening. The member has one or more receptacles therein for receiving food items from the interior of the housing, and a motive device, such as a motor, rotates the member about its axis to carry food items in the receptacle from within the housing outwardly through the opening for feeding purposes. The motive device rotates the member periodically, such as once in twenty-four hours, to perform a feeding operation one or more times during each such interval of time.

  • Patent number: 4285279
Abstract: In a vehicular energy producing system including an electrical generating device and being adapted to be mounted on an undercarriage of a heavy vehicle, a support bracket mounted on the undercarriage for supporting the electrical generating device, and a clutch mounted on the undercarriage. The clutch is driven by the rotation of the wheels of the undercarriage to in turn drive the electrical generating device. A transmission drivingly connects the clutch and the generating device.

  • Patent number: 4261322
Abstract: A toll ejecting apparatus for propelling at least one coin from a vehicle to a toll collection receptacle includes a hollow elongated barrel having a propelling mechanism mounted reciprocatively longitudinally therewithin. The mechanism includes a coin-receiving device having an opening therein for moving the coin longitudinally within the barrel toward the exit end thereof. A mounting device positions the exit end of the barrel to direct it toward the receptacle as the vehicle moves opposite it. A manually-operated device actuates the propelling mechanism to cause it to propel the coin toward the exit end of te barrel.

  • Patent number: 4256128
Abstract: A toll collection station arrangement includes a toll collection receptacle device having an enlongated currency receiving mouth extending parallel to the toll collection lane at one side thereof for receiving the currency from a moving vehicle as it moves opposite the receptacle device. A currency control device moves rapidly the currency from different axially spaced-apart portions of the mouth of the receptacle device to a counter device so that the counter device can determine the total of the deposited currency before the moving vehicle leaves the receptacle device and another moving vehicle moves opposite the receptacle device.

  • Patent number: 4239975
Abstract: In an energy producing system, a movable device is mounted at least partially within a housing which, in turn, is mounted in the ground at the surface of a road or the like. The movable device at least partially extends through an opening in the housing and is positioned transversely within the path of travel of vehicles moving along the road for engaging the vehicles seriatim to be set into motion thereby. A coupling device connects drivingly the movable device and a generating device for transmitting drivingly the motion of the movable device to the generating device, such as an electrical generator. A flywheel is journaled for rotation about its axis for storing the energy in response to the movable device to provide a more continuous production of energy from the generating device.
