  • Publication number: 20070100112
Abstract: The present invention is directed to polyurethane-urea materials and to a process for their production. These polyurethane-ureas are preferably optically clear and comprise the reaction product of a (cyclo)aliphatic polyisocyanate or prepolymer thereof, with an isocyanate-reactive component that comprises one or more aromatic diamines which contains two primary amine groups, and one or more compounds containing two secondary amine groups which may be linked to aliphatic and/or aromatic moieties. This isocyanate-reactive component may additionally comprise one or more hydroxyl-functional compounds. The present invention offers a relatively fast “Green-Cure Time” of solid polyurethane-ureas which enables these to be demolded in a relatively short time period, followed by subsequent post-curing outside the mold.

  • Publication number: 20070093602
Abstract: The present invention provides processes for infrastructure repairs and geo-stabilization with a low-exotherm polyurethane foam, grout or elastomer. The inventive process involves at least partially filling a cavity in the infrastructure or earth with a low-exotherm polyurethane foam, grout or elastomer made from at least one polyisocyanate, at least one isocyanate-reactive compound and an organic particulate material capable of absorbing heat, optionally in the presence of one or more chosen from water, surfactants, pigments, catalysts, alkali silicates and fillers and curing the polyurethane foam, grout or elastomer. The inventive processes may improve the repair of buildings, foundations, roads, bridges, highways, sidewalks, tunnels, manholes, sewers, sewage treatment systems, water treatment systems, reservoirs, canals, irrigation ditches, etc.

  • Patent number: 6669407
Abstract: A water-resistant polyurethane geotextile composite suitable for use as a liner is made by impregnating a geotextile with a water-resistant polyurethane and allowing the polyurethane impregnated in the geotextile to cure. The water-resistant polyurethane composition is a reaction product of (a) a liquid polyisocyanate having an isocyanate content of at least 10% by weight, (b) an isocyanate-reactive component which includes (1) 20-90% by weight castor oil having a water content of less than 0.5% by weight, and (2) a polyether polyol in which at least 70% by weight of the alkylene oxide is propylene oxide, and (c) a urethane catalyst. Low molecular weight diols and triols and fillers may optionally be included.
