  • Patent number: 10277656
Abstract: For use in media communications, e.g., in the delivery of video and audio or in teleconferencing, a media file or title is partitioned for secured, efficient delivery. A data sequence representing the file is partitioned into smaller subsequences, with a first subsequence being chosen to convey a degrade-quality representation of the data, and the other sequences for complementing the first subsequence to obtain a superior-quality representation. Among areas of applicability are media on demand, real-time communications and broadcasting, and online media locker, jukebox, and chat room services.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 2016
Date of Patent: April 30, 2019
    Assignee: FiveOpenBooks, LLC
    Inventors: Antonio Ortega, Axel Becker-Lakus

  • Patent number: 8717457
Abstract: A spectral capture parameter is adjusted for capturing successive frames of motion image data. Spectral content in a first region of a current frame is compared to spectral content in a counterpart region in a previous frame. It is determined whether the spectral content has changed by more than a threshold value, based on the comparison. Responsive to a determination that the spectral content has changed by more than the threshold value, the spectral capture parameter for the first region is adjusted, and the adjusted spectral capture parameter is applied to an imaging system for capture of a successive frame.

  • Publication number: 20130242138
Abstract: First and second images of a scene are captured using respectively different first and second optical paths. The first optical path includes an optical element comprising a stack of microlens arrays. A synthesized image of the scene is generated by calculations using the first and second captured images of the scene. The synthesized image has improved image characteristics as compared to both of the first captured image and the second captured image.
