  • Patent number: 6321018
Abstract: The combination of a tray and a cover for fiber optic cables, the tray is adapted to hold fiber optic cables and has upstanding side and rear walls, the upper edge of each wall having a ledge formed by a recessed channel in the edge. A cover is adapted to be applied to the tray and has a plurality of edges which nest within the tray so that its side and rear edges rest on the ledge of the tray. The tray has holes therein for receiving protrusion extending from the cover for frictional engagement. Openings are provided in the walls adjacent to the holes to provide access for a user to lift up the cover from the tray.

  • Patent number: 6319018
Abstract: A system and method of establishing an electrical connection between first and second circuit boards includes the use of a multi-function fastener. The fastener is inserted between the circuit boards and serves to physically connect the circuit boards to each other and to a support or base. The fastener bears against conductive edge portions of the first and second circuit boards to also establish electrical conductivity between the circuit boards. Fasteners may be provided to communicate a grounding voltage, as well as, a power supply voltage. By providing a series of circuit boards and fasteners, it is possible to establish common ground and power supply voltage levels in multi-circuit board assemblies, without providing separate ground and power supply bars.

  • Patent number: 6315599
Abstract: A strain relief for a wire inserted through the cap of an insulation displacement connector including a tab hingeably mounted on the connector for selective movement between an unlocked position and a locked position. When the tab is in the unlocked position, the tab receives the wire after the wire passes through the connector, and when the tab is in the locked position, a restraining force is applied to the wire thereby inhibiting the removal of the wire from the connector.

  • Patent number: 6307999
Abstract: A fiber-optic cable routing and separating device that includes a plurality tiered cable routers disposed in vertically and horizontally spaced apart relation to each other. Each cable router defines a cable routing path that can accommodate a different fiber-optic cable length and that further limits the bend radius of the routed fiber cable. The plurality of tiered cable routers also provides the ability to separate individual or groups of fiber-optic cables.

  • Patent number: 6300562
Abstract: A sealed fiber optic enclosure assembly includes a fiber optic enclosure having an inner rim, and an end cap shaped to fit the enclosure. The end cap has a pliable membrane depending from it. The membrane is approximately a cylindrical structure. The membrane may have a wedge-shaped cross section. The wedge-shaped cross section may have an elbow in it. The membrane and end cap may be formed from a single piece of a pliable material, such as polypropylene. The membrane extends into the rim of the enclosure when the end cap is in place on the enclosure. The enclosure has a neck that transitions from a first diameter to a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. The second diameter is smaller than a diameter of the membrane. A clamp is placed over mating portions of the enclosure and end cap, for clamping the end cap to the enclosure. The clamp may be a V-clamp. Pressure is introduced to the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6294734
Abstract: A sealing device includes a base with a first end and a second open end. A cylindrical inner wall is formed inside the base and communicates the first end to the second open end. First threads are formed on the cylindrical inner wall, and a first through hole is formed in the first end. A cap includes a top, an open bottom, and a cylindrical outer wall. Second threads are formed on the cylindrical outer wall for mating engagement with the first threads. A second through hole is formed in the top. A tapering inner wall is formed inside the cap and communicates the second through hole to the open bottom. A gasket resides adjacent to the first end of the base and within the tapering inner wall of the cap. A third through hole is formed in the gasket and the first, second, and third through holes are aligned to receive a cable, wire or similar cylindrical object. Tightening of the cap into the base results in compression of the gasket, constriction of the third through hole, and thereby sealing of the cable.

  • Patent number: 6278061
Abstract: A cable retaining mechanism has a hollow body containing a plurality of projections extending radially into the hollow cavity. The projections are spaced equidistantly from each other and have a resiliency such that each projection exerts equal retaining pressure on the cable passing through the hollow body. The equal pressure retains the cable in a central location within the hollow body. This allows for symmetrical application of a shrinkable protective layer to secure the cable and mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6268565
Abstract: A cable sealing arrangement is provided for limiting the ingress of fluid into a location about a cable, such as a telephone wire enclosure, which generally includes a fitting, two sealing members, and two nuts. The sealing arrangement provides multiple redundant seals defined by the interfaces of tapered surfaces on the sealing members and the fitting, as well as, the interfaces of tapered surfaces on the sealing members and the nuts. By tightening the nuts onto the fitting, the nuts cause compression of the sealing members resulting in tight engagement of a cable.
