  • Publication number: 20100139423
Abstract: A clamp and quick release mechanism for clamping and releasing a cylindrical linkage to a rod-like member comprises a locking ring located on the rod-like member and a clamping ring. The inner surface of the clamping ring and the outer surface of the locking ring are configured such that rotation of the clamping ring in one direction will compress the locking ring and rotation in the other direction will allow expansion of the locking ring.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 8, 2008
    Publication date: June 10, 2010
    Applicant: WABTEC HOLDING CORP.

  • Publication number: 20080314702
Abstract: A slack adjuster for a fluid-actuated brake comprises a slack adjuster collet (24) having a tubular skirt and an enlarged ring section. The enlarged ring section has opposed axial stop faces notched therein that define a conical lift surface facing the tube axis. A forward stop face has a conical or beveled surface arranged to engage the conical or beveled surface on one stop face of the collet when the collet carried by the actuator rod reaches the forward stop face and a retraction stop face has a conical or beveled surface arranged to engage the conical or beveled surface on the other stop face of the collet when the collet carried by the actuator rod reaches retraction stop face. The conical or beveled surfaces are configured so that when they engage, the force of the collet on the push rod is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20080000731
Abstract: A disc brake caliper assembly for moving brake pads straddling the brake disc against each side of a brake disc comprises two tongs pivotably supported. The tongs have brake heads and pads at one end and power nut support pins journaled at the other end. The power nuts are pivotally supported from the power nut support pins. A power screw extends between the tongs and has external threaded ends threaded in the power nuts such that rotation of the power screw will force the power nuts apart thus causing the brake pads to engage the brake disc.
