Abstract: The present invention provides a combined formicide preparation comprising at least one insecticide and at least one laccase inhibitor, said laccase inhibitor being present in the preparation at a content of 0.5% or more by weight of the preparation, and the mass ratio between the at least one laccase inhibitor and the at least one insecticide being 2 or more. The present invention also relates to a method of controlling fungus-growing ants and a method of producing a combined formicide preparation.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for the measurement of the displacement, and if desired, the force on movable equipment in the production pipe of a pumped well, for example, a pump rod or sucker rod near the pump at the bottom of a well. The force on the rod is measured with a load sensing device connected to a lower rod. The displacement is measured by creating equally spaced apart magnetic marks or poles on the internal wall of the production pipe, detecting the marks, and then erasing the marks, so they do not interfere with marks created and detected when the direction of displacement is reversed. A new mark is created each time a mark is detected, and the equal displacement distance between detected marks is compared with the corresponding elapsed time to determine the displacement and velocity of the rod. A diagram of force-displacement can be made from the measurement data to enable the pump, or other movable equipment to be operated at optimum conditions.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition contains as an active principle a peroxide having an aromatic radical and a saturated group and having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents linear or branched alkyl having 3 to 17 carbon atoms, substituted or not by one or more halogens, interrupted or not by a carbonyl group and carrying a terminal carboxylic acid group esterified or not or R.sub.1 represents cycloalkyl having 5 to 10 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 represents hydrogen, halogen, --CF.sub.3, methoxy, ethoxy or acyl having 2 to 16 carbon atoms.The composition is usefully employed in the treatment of various dermatoses including acne.

Abstract: A liquid, essentially anhydrous solution of hydrogen peroxide in at least one organic solvent is employed in therapeutic and cosmetic formulations. The solution contains from 1 to 20 weight percent hydrogen peroxide and less than 1 weight percent water. The therapeutic formulation can be used in the treatment of acne, dermatoses, ulcers and in the lightening and disinfection of the skin. The cosmetic formulations can be used in the bleaching or oxidation dyeing of hair or in the neutralization stage of a permanent wave operation or in the straightening of hair.

Abstract: A peroxide having an aromatic radical and an unsaturated group has the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents linear or branched, mono- or polyunsaturated alkenyl having 5 to 21 carbon atoms or cycloalkenyl having 5 to 10 carbon atoms, n is 1 or 2 and R' represents hydrogen, halogen, --CF.sub.3, methoxy, ethoxy or acyl having 2 to 16 carbon atoms.The peroxide is employed in pharmaceutical or cosmetic compositions for the treatment of various dermatoses, and especially for the treatment of acne.

Abstract: A bicycle rack for holding a bicycle in an upright position and designed to be attached to the luggage carrier on a motor vehicle. The rack includes a frame bracket with a jaw with an upwardly facing jaw which receives the crank assembly housing of the bicycle. The jaw preferably includes a fixed member and a movable member which moves arcuately with respect to the fixed member from an open position, to permit the bicycle crank assembly housing to be placed therein to a closed position which secures the housing from removal. A lever can be provided for such a multi-member jaw to facilitate the opening and closing thereof, and a lock may be incorporated into this lever to make the rack resistant to the theft of a bicycle therefrom and to prevent the accidental opening of the jaw during the transportation of a bicycle.

Abstract: Deodorant compositions containing at least one zinc or magnesium salt of a polyacid of the general formula: ##STR1## in which X is--CH.dbd.CH--or--CHOH--CHOH--, Y is H, a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic radical of 1 to 10 carbon atoms, which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more hydroxyls, a saturated or unsaturated alicyclic radical of up to 30 carbon atoms, which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more hydroxyls and/or a carboxylic acid group, or Y denotes a carboxylic acid radical when p=O, Z denotes a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon radical of up to 6 carbon atoms, n is an integer less than 10, p is O or an integer less than or equal to n, and R is H or a lower alkyl group, and of a positional isomer of such a polyacid, exhibit the advantage that they prevent the development of odors without thereby destroying the biological equilibrium of the skin.
