  • Publication number: 20230292059
Abstract: A hearing aid includes a microphone, and a processing unit. The microphone is configured to receive sound incident on the hearing aid and deliver a corresponding microphone output to the processing unit. The processing unit is configured to process the microphone output to determine whether the incident sound comprises potentially harmful sound, and to generate a processor output including a processed version of the microphone output. A method of protecting a hearing aid wearer from sudden loud sounds uses a microphone in the hearing aid to receive incident sound and deliver a corresponding microphone output to a processing unit in the hearing aid. The processing unit processes the microphone output to generate a first processor output, determined by whether the incident sound includes potentially harmful impulsive sound, and a second processor output including a processed version of the microphone output.

  • Patent number: 11636745
Abstract: An electronic apparatus and a method are provided for detection of animal intrusions and control of a repellent mechanism to prevent such intrusions. The electronic apparatus controls an image-capture device to acquire an image of a house yard and selects a set of zones in the acquired image based on a user-specified setting. The electronic apparatus detects an animal in the acquired image and controls the repellent mechanism based on a determination that the detected animal is in a zone which is among the selected set of zones, to target the detected animal.

  • Patent number: 11622197
Abstract: An electronic apparatus and method for enhancement of audio for users with a hearing impairment in a shared listening environment is provided. The electronic apparatus receives first audio content from a media source and detects a first user with a hearing disability as a wearer of the personal listening device. The electronic apparatus modifies one or more features of the first audio content based on an audio enhancement profile associated with the detected first user. Thereafter, the electronic apparatus generates second audio content based on the modification and shares the generated second audio content with the personal listening device.

  • Patent number: 11611799
Abstract: Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. When automatically switching from presenting a service on a first frequency to a second frequency such as when a mobile receiver is moving through a boundary region between two broadcasters, the current broadcaster application is notified and depending on the context, may continue executing or send data to the new broadcaster application.

  • Patent number: 11611792
Abstract: Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. A receiver, to automatically switch from presenting a service on a first frequency to a second frequency such as when a mobile receiver is moving through a boundary region between two broadcasters, can consider not just signal strength and error rates of two frequencies carrying the same service to select which frequency to tune to, but also relative location and direction of motion of the receiver with respect to each broadcaster.
