  • Patent number: 7086090
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventing exchange of viruses. Preexisting content is maintained for a device in a first location. New content associated with the device is placed in a second location, wherein the new content is an update to the preexisting content. The preexisting content and the new content are combined in a third location to form merged content. A check for viruses is performed on the merged content prior to performing a transfer of the new content.

  • Patent number: 7063456
Abstract: A container (15) for a blender (10) includes a bottom surface (16) having a non-symmetrically shaped perimeter. A side wall (17) extends upwardly from the perimeter of the bottom surface (16). A mixing blade assembly (20) having a plurality of blades (21) is located above the bottom surface (16) and is rotatable on an axis which is displaced from the center of the bottom surface (10). Nonuniform spaces (25, 26) are thus created between the ends of the blades (21) and the side wall (17). The bottom surface (16) is inclined at an angle relative to the plane normal to the axis of rotation of the blade assembly (20), and it, as well as the side wall (17), may be provided with a plurality of spaced vanes (31, 32).

  • Publication number: 20050198527
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for the automatic detection and fixing of security vulnerabilities in both individual software components and across complex, multi-component software solutions. The architecture of the software solution to be monitored is analyzed prior to its being monitored. Data derived from the analysis is used to proactively identify possible ways to attack the software solution. The software solution being monitored and the system on which it runs is periodically scanned, and attacks on it are attempted. A list of possible attacks is continuously updated, for example, in a manner similar to virus signatures provided by virus security companies, and a log is generated describing which attacks were successful and which ones failed.

  • Publication number: 20050084078
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for processing calls. Initiation of a call by a user is detected in the communications device. In response to detecting the call, a geographic identification based on a number assigned to the communications device and/or a language identification based on a user of the communications device is identified. The geographic identification and the language identification are transmitted with caller identification information for use by a called party.

  • Publication number: 20040266439
Abstract: A hyper-scatternet includes a first ad hoc piconet, a second ad hoc piconet and a wide area network, wherein the first and second ad hoc piconets are configured to communicate with one another via the wide area network. Each ad hoc piconet can include an application server that includes an ad hoc piconet interface that is configured to communicate with an ad hoc piconet using an ad hoc piconet protocol, and a wide area network interface that is configured to communicate with a wide area network using a wide area network protocol. The application server also includes a service manifest that is configured to determine ad hoc piconet services that are available from the ad hoc piconet via the ad hoc piconet interface, and to advertise the ad hoc piconet services to the wide area network as wide area network services via the wide area network interface.

  • Patent number: 6654814
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for tailoring content for a session of a first data processing system communicating with a second data processing system by obtaining session specific information from the first data processing system and distributing tailoring functions between the first data processing system and the second data processing systems based upon the obtained session specific information. In particular, policies which control the distribution of tailoring functions between data processing systems based on session specific information may be obtained from a repository and tailoring functions distributed between the first data processing system and the second data processing system according to the obtained policies and the session specific information.

  • Publication number: 20030144990
Abstract: Methods and systems, including computer program products, for active file change notification. A system in accordance with the invention includes a recorder that records changes to one or more files in a file system and a broker that receives and responds to change notification request from external applications. The recording of changes can be system-initiated and can pertain to changes occurring anywhere in the file system. The recorder and broker can perform asynchronously from each other and can persist independently of the external applications.

  • Patent number: 6594700
Abstract: A service provider protocol adapter servlet listens for service advertising requests. Each protocol is associated with a different servlet that understands the details of the service advertising mechanism unique to that protocol. The service provider protocol adapter servlet then converts the service advertisement from a service protocol into a canonical representation of service advertising and stores the advertisement in an internal registry. A client protocol adapter servlet listens for client lookup requests and looks up a corresponding service provider in the internal registry. As with service provider protocol adapter servlets, a different client protocol adapter servlet handles the details of client lookup for each particular protocol. The client protocol adapter servlet then converts a client request into a canonical representation of the request, which is then used to look up the service required by the client.

  • Publication number: 20020082879
Abstract: A system provides potential patrons of a venue with information about seats in the venue over the Internet. Users of the system may select seat objects from an interactive seat map and receive information about the seat. The seat information may include photographic images of the seat or its view or textual comments about the seat. Each seat object in the seat map may be pointer-sensitive and linked to an entry in a database relating to a corresponding seat. A Method is provided for pricing seats in a seat map. A number of seats in a venue may be selected and assigned a ticket price for an event. Seats with different prices may be designated with different colors on the seat map when pricing the seats.

  • Patent number: 6342260
Abstract: A drink-blending machine (10) includes an ice-shaving unit (11) and a blender assembly (12). The ice-shaving unit (11) is adapted to transfer ice from a bin (15) to the pitcher (18) of the blender assembly (12). A weighing mechanism (31) includes a deflection beam (33), one end of which carries the pitcher (18). The deflection beam (33) includes a strain gauge (34) which provides a signal proportional to weight to a control circuitry box (30). In operation of the machine (10), a quantity of liquid is placed in the pitcher (18) and dependent upon the weight of ice or liquid-to-ice ratio predetermined by depressing a selected button (44), ice from the ice-shaving unit (11) is transferred to the pitcher (18) until the predetermined weight of ice is received by the pitcher (18).
