  • Publication number: 20070158360
Abstract: Reservoir for a dispense system designed to maintain a suspending fluid flow within the reservoir. The fluid dispense system is particularly well suited to be manufactured in a single-use format comprising a fluid reservoir and fill tube assembly, particularly comprising a reservoir, tubing, fittings and connectors, and a needle. The system ensures uniformity within the liquid by moving the fluid through the product reservoir such as with a continuous or pulsating flow, and is designed to maintain the fluid in motion in order to maintain a homogenous solution. The reservoir is designed to minimize any fluid dead zones.

  • Publication number: 20070023449
Abstract: A dispense apparatus and system for dispensing suspensions or emulsions. The system ensures uniformity of distribution of the dispersed phase within the continuous-phase liquid by moving the fluid through the dispense cartridge, such as with a continuous or pulsating flow. In one embodiment, peristaltic pumps are positioned upstream and downstream of the dispense cartridge, in fluid communication with and forming a single loop with a fluid source. Circulation between the fluid source and the dispense cartridge is maintained. In a second embodiment, a pump circulates fluid into and out of the dispense cartridge and is also in fluid communication with a fluid source such as with a pinch valve to allow proper filling of the dispense cartridge from the fluid source. In a third embodiment, a reversing pump is placed between the dispense cartridge and fluid source to continually or continuously pump fluid into and out of the dispense cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20060272432
Abstract: The present invention provides fluid sampling device comprising a sampling head having a series of openings through it from one major surface to the other, a plurality of conduits at the downstream side of the openings and a plurality of sample containers. The openings are selectively opened and closed through the use of switches mounted within each opening and the head of the device members, each switch being movable within said head between closed and open positions. The conduits (e.g., flexible tubing) are equal in number to the openings, with each conduit connected to an individual port fitting arranged on a face of the head downstream of the respective opening. Similarly, the sample containers (e.g., flexible bags) are equal in number to the conduits, with each sample container connected to an individual conduit opposite the connection to the port. A specific configuration for the device, as well as a kit containing pre-sterilized components of the fluid sampling device, are also described.

  • Publication number: 20050284882
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the temperature of the fluid in a volumetric dispensing apparatus, without the need for a controlled ambient environment. The reservoir used to hold the fluid prior to dispensing is maintained at a constant temperature through the use of a temperature-controlled surround, such as a water jacket. This ensures uniform fluid properties, such as viscosity and density, thereby guaranteeing that accurate volumes will be dispensed. Methods for controlling the temperature within the encased reservoir are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050090797
Abstract: A sterile to sterile connection device comprising a connector and one or more coupling devices. The connector has body portion which has two openings sealed from the environment so as to form a sterile environment within the connector. At least one of the openings being sealed from the environment by a sterile barrier plug. The connector also has a port capable movement within the body of the connector to at least an open and a closed position. The coupling device is formed of a body having two openings and a stem having a bore through at least a portion of the stem. The stem is contained within the body and capable of moving at least linearly through the body between a first and second stem position. One of the openings of the stem is sealed from the environment by a sterile barrier plug and the other is sealed to a presterilized component. The coupling device opening containing the sterile barrier plug is attached to either the inlet or outlet of the connector.

  • Publication number: 20050029301
Abstract: A single-use fluid dispenser cartridge, installable or installed into a host fluid dispensing apparatus, is described. The single-use fluid dispenser cartridge is provided with a fluid reservoir, a fill tube assembly, and means for controlling pressure within the cartridge by gating gas into or out of the reservoir and/or the fill tube assembly. The gas gating mean enables, in certain embodiments, use of a fluid reservoir that is “substantially rigid”.

  • Publication number: 20040224511
Abstract: The present invention provides a process and liquid composition for selectively removing a metal film from a patterned substrate. The process, which is useful in the manufacture of semiconductor devices and circuits, comprises chemically reacting the metal film with a liquid and then removing the reaction product from the metal surfaces using a polishing pad. The present invention further provides a process to polish a metal surface in separate stages and at different rates by changing the chemical composition of the liquid.

  • Publication number: 20040197541
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for forming inlaid patterns of metal into specified areas of a patterned substrate. The process, which is useful in the manufacture of semiconductor devices and circuits, comprises selectively removing seed layer from all surfaces save the trenches and vias and selectively electroless plating a metal into the patterned substrate where the seed layer remains. The present invention further provides an abrasive-free polishing-pad configured to planarize a metal plated surface, agitate chemical reagents and facilitate removal of gases generated by the electroless plating process.
