  • Patent number: 10412879
Abstract: A decelerating device is mounted in series within a pneumatic particulate material delivery passage that communicates from a particulate material supply to a material outlet of a furrow opener for depositing particulate material into a furrow formed by the furrow opener. The decelerating device has a duct member extending longitudinally between opposing open ends for connection in line with the pneumatic particulate material delivery passage. A plurality of exhaust openings communicating through a peripheral wall of the duct member to exhaust air therethrough. A gate member is supported on the duct member so as to be movable relative to the exhaust openings to vary a cumulative exposed area of the exhaust openings. A perforated screen member spans across the exhaust openings having a smaller aperture size than the exhaust openings to ensure small particulate materials being conveyed do not escape through the exhaust openings.

  • Patent number: 9032885
Abstract: A paired row opener has a furrowing tip arranged to be selectively supported on a body of the opener. The furrowing tip includes a knife portion and a pair of wing portions extending rearwardly and outwardly therefrom where are separable together from the opener body. A pair of deflector wings are integrally formed on the opener body above inner edges of the respective wing portions which are abutted with the opener body so as to deflect disturbed soil away from a seam between the inner edge of the wing portions and the opener body. An insulated mounting block is fastened onto a rear bracket of the opener body which receives an anhydrous ammonia delivery tube therethrough so permit optional delivery of anhydrous ammonia at a location which is insulated and spaced rearwardly from the opener body.

  • Patent number: 8757074
Abstract: A material decelerating device is connected in series with a distribution tube in proximity to a material outlet in an agricultural air distribution system for decelerating conveying air which placing material into a furrow in the ground. The material decelerating includes an inlet tube connected to the distribution tube to receive material and conveying air therefrom. The inlet tube is connected at an intermediate location on a center tube of the device which exhausts the air upwardly to an exhaust opening and deposits the material downwardly through an outlet opening. A cap adjustably spans the exhaust opening to vary the amount of air exhausted. The inlet tube is inclined downwardly in alignment with a helical recessed channel within the center tube to guide material to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 8453586
Abstract: A furrow opener comprises an opener body for mounting on a cultivator shank for movement therewith in a forward working direction and which supports a knife on a front end to deposit a fertilizer row and a wing attachment at a rear end to deposit paired seed rows in the ground. The bottom side of the opener body is stepped in profile between the knife and the wing attachment to comprise an enclosed front portion extending generally horizontally rearward from the knife, a step portion which extends upward from the front portion and primarily locates a fertilizer outlet therein and a rear portion extending generally rearward from the step portion to the rear of the opener body. The fertilizer outlet in the step portion primarily faces rearwardly and is more vertical in orientation than the enclosed front portion of the bottom side of the opener body ahead of it to shield the fertilizer outlet from the wake of earth displaced by the knife.

  • Patent number: 7918189
Abstract: A cattle handling system comprises a plurality of stall dividers positioned side by side and extending generally parallel to each other. Brackets for mounting the stall dividers are connected directly to a concrete slab and allow for connection of the stall dividers to the brackets in a one man operation without the need for embedding vertical members in the slab. The position of the brackets are located on the concrete slab by use of a mounting jig. The brackets may have a vertical adjustment allowing for an increase or decrease in the working height of the stall dividers.

  • Publication number: 20100175600
Abstract: An agricultural seeding implement comprises a plurality of furrowing devices independently supported by respective suspension members on a frame for movement together with the frame in a forward working direction. A pressurizing system is arranged to provide a flow of fluid under pressure from a source of liquid associated with the frame to a fluid nozzle assembly of each furrowing device. In a preferred embodiment, each fluid nozzle assembly comprises two furrowing nozzles oriented to direct the respective flow of fluid under pressure downwardly towards the ground to form a common furrow in the ground associated with the fluid nozzle assembly. A seed tube is supported rearwardly of each furrowing device so as to be arranged to deposit seed in the furrow formed by the furrowing device.

  • Patent number: 7617783
Abstract: A paired row opener has a furrowing tip arranged to be selectively supported on a body of the opener. The furrowing tip includes a knife portion and a pair of wing portions extending rearwardly and outwardly therefrom. A central chamber between the wing portions communicates with a primary delivery passage of the opener body to receive the primary particulate material therefrom to be dispensed in a paired row from a pair of outlet openings of the chamber which are laterally spaced apart in a rear face of the tip body. A bottom wall spans a bottom side of the chamber between the wing portions to the rear face such that the outlet openings lie in an upright plane at a rearmost end of the tip body to be prevented from plugging even in wet conditions, while remaining selectively separable with the tip body from the opener body for replacement.
