Patent number: 9976543Abstract: A transmission for a motor vehicle includes an input shaft, a transmission pump, a transmission sump and a pump-driving element, which is preferably a drive gear. The drive gear and the transmission pump are located in the transmission sump. Power is transmitted from the input shaft to the transmission pump through the drive gear. In a preferred embodiment, power is transmitted from the input shaft to the drive gear through at least one gear, and from the drive gear to the transmission pump through a pump shaft. The drive gear is preferably at least partially enclosed by a shroud, coupled to the transmission pump, in order to separate the drive gear from transmission fluid located in the transmission sump and thereby reduce drag on the drive gear. The shroud preferably also includes a discharge port so that transmission fluid located in the shroud is expelled through the discharge port when the drive gear rotates.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2014Date of Patent: May 22, 2018Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Mark Steward, Brian Orr, Mark Marchie, William Riley

Publication number: 20170098215Abstract: A data protection system for online data is described that can be used to obfuscate sensitive data to relieve security compliance requirements for one or more entities involved in processing, storing, and/or communicating the sensitive data to complete an online purchase transaction. The data protection system can receive online purchase data from a client application, and then remove the sensitive information of the online purchase data to sanitize the online purchase data. The data protection system can also maintain the sensitive information, and communicate the sanitized online purchase data to an eCommerce server that then communicates with a payment service provider for payment authorization of the online purchase, where the sanitized online purchase data relieves security compliance requirements at the eCommerce server.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2015Publication date: April 6, 2017Inventors: Daniel C. Patent number: 7491878Abstract: A music generation engine automatically generates musical compositions by accessing musical sections and corresponding properties including similarity factors that provide a quantified indication of the similarity of musical sections to one another (e.g., a percentage of similarity). A sequential relationship of the musical sections is then determined according to an algorithmic process that uses the similarity factors to assess the desirability of the sequential relationship. The algorithmically created musical composition may then be stored, such as by rendering the composition as an audio file or by storing a library file that refers to the musical sections. The created musical composition may include layers respectively having different audio elements such that the created musical composition has a first dimension along a timeline and a second dimension that provides a depth based upon the presence of different audio elements.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2007Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony Creative Software, Inc.Inventor: Brian Orr
