Patent number: 10853845Abstract: Mobile devices and servers that securely manage transactional history for targeted content are described. A content originator generates a secure content package for the targeted content and delivers the package to a trusted service manager (TSM). The TSM delivers the package to a first mobile device. The first mobile device presents the package for redemption and/or transfers the package to one or more additional mobile devices. Prior to presentment or transfer, the first mobile device updates a secure history container of the package to include a unique identifier of the first mobile device and a corresponding authentication token. When the package is presented for redemption, the TSM validates the package and authenticates the secure history container. The TSM delivers the authenticated secure history container to the content originator as a record of the redemption.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2014Date of Patent: December 1, 2020Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Arthur Gerald Herkert, Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis

Patent number: 10242476Abstract: An exemplary virtual reality system presents virtual reality media content including representations of a plurality of objects to a user. The system detects a characteristic of a real-world environment of the user as the virtual reality media content is presented to the user and identifies, based on the detected characteristic of the real-world environment, an actionable real-world object included in the real-world environment. In response to the identifying of the actionable real-world object and as the virtual reality media content is presented to the user, the system dynamically integrates a proxy object corresponding to the actionable real-world object with the representations of the plurality of objects included within the virtual reality media content presented to the user. The proxy object may be configured to facilitate an action by the user with respect to the actionable real-world object as the virtual reality media content is being presented.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2017Date of Patent: March 26, 2019Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensong Inc.Inventors: Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis, Yuk Lun Li, Ning Zhang

Patent number: 9973409Abstract: A device may identify an amount of data corresponding to a user device of a plurality of user devices associated with an account with a shared data amount. The amount of data may include an amount of data that is available for use by the user device and that is not available for use by other user devices of the plurality of user devices. The shared data amount may include an amount of data that is available for use by all of the plurality of user devices. The device may determine allocation information that identifies a portion of the amount of data available to the user device that is allocated for use in association with an application. The device may determine data usage information that identifies an amount of data used in association with the application. The device may determine data status information and may provide the data status information.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2015Date of Patent: May 15, 2018Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis, Yuk Lun Li, Ning Zhang

Patent number: 9697235Abstract: An example of a method of keyword identification and content overlay is described. A mobile device identifies a keyword within a file containing one or more images. The identified keyword is compared to a collection of pre-stored keywords. If the identified keyword matches one of the pre-stored keywords, content corresponding to the matched pre-stored keyword is overlaid onto the image and the image with the overlaid content is displayed. A user of the mobile device can select the overlaid content to retrieve additional information related to the identified keyword.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2014Date of Patent: July 4, 2017Assignee: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC.Inventors: Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis, Ning Zhang, Yuk Lun Li

Patent number: 9678690Abstract: A method for generating a 3D object for visualizing multivariate data includes gathering subscriber information about subscribers of a network, receiving a user request to generate the 3D object, and generating object-data specifying a three-dimensional contour that models a relationship between at least two variables of the subscriber information and a measure. The three-dimensional contour is based on the received request and on the subscriber information, and the object data is generated in a format that is printable by a 3D printer. The object data is transmitted to the user.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2014Date of Patent: June 13, 2017Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis, Yuk L. Patent number: 9374799Abstract: The described examples provide a system and methods for identifying a location of a mobile device within an indoor venue using cellular communication signals obtained while the mobile device is within the indoor venue. An array of antennas arranged within the indoor venue detects cellular communication signals transmitted by the mobile device. The detected cellular communication signals have detectable and measurable signal parameters that allow the location of the mobile device within the indoor venue and an identifier of the mobile device to be determined. The determined identifier of the mobile device may also be used to identify the mobile device subscriber. The mobile device indoor location information may be used to update an anonymized subscriber profile associated with the mobile device subscriber.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2013Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Asif N. Publication number: 20160155150Abstract: A signage application of a mobile device receives a request for information relating to a signage. The request includes a keyword associated with the signage. Responsive to the request, the signage application identifies a location associated with the mobile device. The signage application sends to a signage server the location and the keyword to receive the requested information about the signage. In response, the signage server provides the requested information about the signage to the signage application.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2014Publication date: June 2, 2016Inventors: Ning ZHANG, Yuk Lun LI, Brigitte BASTALDO-TSAMPALIS

Patent number: 9319858Abstract: Systems and methods for managing information about content transmission are disclosed. In some implementations, a first mobile device communicates with a second mobile device, via a short-range radio of the first mobile device, to either send or receive a content item. The first mobile device tags the content item with a tag. The tag identifies the second mobile device. The first mobile device transmits to a server, via an additional radio of the first mobile device, data identifying the content and the second mobile device. The additional radio is different from the short-range radio. The data is transmitted to the server for analyzing short-range radio transmissions between mobile devices.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2013Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis, Ashfaq Kamal, Manuel Enrique Caceres, Yuk Lun Li, Praveen Venkataramu, Asif Nooruddin Batada

Patent number: 9286252Abstract: An exemplary system and method enables direct transfers of content between devices to be evaluated by service providers in support of marketing services and the like to those devices (and their users). The system and method utilizes cards and records during the direct transfers to capture user activity information and then provides those cards and records to the service providers. Thus, even though the direct transfer is off-network or outside of the service provider system, the use of cards and records by the system and method provides the user activity information to the service provider for enhancing marketing services.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2014Date of Patent: March 15, 2016Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Rita Sadhvani, Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis

Patent number: 9280366Abstract: A system for adaptive application of device settings is disclosed. In the system, a first device may receive information identifying settings that are applied to one or more second devices. The settings may correspond to interactions, by a user, with the one or more second devices over a period of time. The one or more second devices be may non-mobile devices associated with one or more facilities. The first device may determine information identifying one or more conditions, associated with environmental conditions or conditions associated with the user's mood or physical state, under which the settings are applied to the one or more second devices; store information that correlates the settings of the one or more second devices with the one or more conditions; determine that at least one of the one or more conditions is met; and apply the settings to the one or more second devices.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2013Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Cellco PartnershipInventors: Ashfaq Kamal, Brigitte Bastaldo-Tsampalis, Rita Sadhvani, Manuel E Caceres, Ioannis Tsampalis
