  • Patent number: 7080533
Abstract: A magnetically coded card and a lock include a slot into which the card is inserted to operate the lock. The card has an aperture through which a card-impaling lock-in pin of the lock can pass when the card is fully inserted within the slot, thus retaining the card in the slot when the lock is unlocked and releasing the card when the lock is again locked.

  • Patent number: 6840071
Abstract: A magnetic card-operated lock has a rotatable exposed cover with a peripheral slot into which a magnetic coded operating card can by inserted for unlocking or locking the lock. The cover and principal locking components are mounted to rotate freely about a central axis between a null position and an unlocking position. A positionable weight is mounted to rotate with the cover plate and is radially separated from the axis so as to bias the cover towards various null positions under the action of gravity. There is also a card lock-in mechanism comprising a card lock-in pin that retains a card in the slot while the lock is unlocked, and a card for said lock with hole and dimple projections to retain it when inserted into the slot.

Abstract: A magnetically coded card for use with a lock having a slot into which the card is inserted to operate the lock has an aperture through which a card-impaling lock-in pin of the lock can pass when the card is fully inserted within the slot, thus retaining the card in the slot when the lock is unlocked and releasing the card when the lock is again locked. The card can include at least one dimple projecting therefrom and engaging with the slot upon insertion therein and providing resistance against removal of the card from the slot.

  • Patent number: 5854844
Abstract: A commentary system for exhibits at museums includes a recorded commentary store and an output amplifier which supplies the recorded message to an aerial. Visitors to the museum are provided with a pick-up coil and an earphone connected directly to the coil. The coil is placed firmly closely adjacent the aerial to inductively couple the aerial and coil so that the visitor may hear the commentary. The pick-up coil and the earphone require virtually no maintenance and no power supply. The audio signal is generated solely by energy derived from the broadcast.

  • Patent number: 5707090
Abstract: A magnetic code operated lock cylinder is releasably coupled to a shaft extending into a door. When the lock is unlocked a pinion gear is rotationally coupled to the shaft which shaft on rotation retracts a door latch. The gear is coupled by a toothed rack to a gear connected to a handle. The handle and rack are surface mounted on the door.

  • Patent number: 5664449
Abstract: A magnetic key operated lock has an anti-rap arrangement which comprises a magnet pin supported in a bar mounted in a slide member. The remote end of the pin fits into an aperture in a locking plate and is pivoted to swing downwards out of the aperture when a correctly coded key is inserted into the lock. The correctly coded key has a repelling spot to pivot the magnet as required and before the key attempts to move the slide member from its locked position. Rapping on the face of the lock cannot move the remote end of the magnet pin out of the aperture because it is restrained by its pivoting action from moving laterally out of the locking plate. Another anti-rap arrangement includes a padlock incorporating both anti-rap arrangements.
