  • Patent number: 5846744
Abstract: A sensor format is based on impedance analysis of polymer coatings of electrodes. A detectable signal is produced by the effect of a reactive or catalytic species at or very near the polymer coated electrode. The reactive or catalytic species directly or indirectly effects a reaction with the polymer layers, whereby the polymer layer becomes porous and thus causes a measurable change in electrical properties of the electrode surface.

Date of Patent: December 8, 1998
    Assignee: Cambridge Life Sciences PLC
Inventors: Dale Athey, Calum J. McNeil, Ronald D. Armstrong, William Henry Mullen
  • Patent number: 4830959
Abstract: Electrochemical detection of mediator level is employed in a method of assay using a redox enzyme and redox substrate to detect conversion to an effective mediator by an assay enzyme label of a compound which is non-mediating under the assay conditions.
