  • Patent number: 5317223
Abstract: Method and device for making a first body (8), having a magnetostrictive properties, and a second body (6), against which said first body is in bearing contact with a certain grip between the contact surfaces, to move with respect to each other while substantially maintaining said grip. According to the invention a magnetic field is made to sequentially influence only one of adjacent partial sections of said magnetostrictive body (8), starting from the front end of the body as seen in the intended direction of movement. The magnetic field is adjusted so that the respective partial section under the influence of the magnetic field undergoes an increase in length, at the same time being subject to a contraction in the transverse direction which is big enough in order to decrease, preferably eliminate the grip between the bodies. The device includes a rod (8) of magnetostrictive material, which is clamped within a tubular body (6), one end of which being attached to a rigid supporting structure.

  • Patent number: 5297439
Abstract: A measuring sensor having a magneto-elastic element and an electronic resonant circuit for sensing mechanical stress of an object. The sensor is firmly attached to the object being measured and creates a resonance frequency. The resonance frequency is transmitted to an aerial in a contactless, position-independent manner.

  • Patent number: 5001458
Abstract: A method and an arrangement of automatic remote identification of separate objects or separate objects in a set of objects, each object being provided with identifier means comprising identifiers made by material with high magnetomechanical coupling, the identifiers preferably comprising a plurality of strips of said material, the resonant frequency thereof being tuned to correspond to the desired information specific to the object, said objects being disposed in an interrogation zone when identification is requested.

  • Patent number: 4944222
Abstract: Printer device in which a striking movement is imparted to a striking member (6) for transmitting a print (5) via an ink ribbon (3) to a paper (2) or the like bearing against an abutment (1). The striking movement of the striking member (6) is effected by means of a motion generator unit (8, 8A, 8B) of a giant magnetostrictive material consisting of an alloy between heavy earth metals and iron, cobalt or nickel, particularly an alloy between one of several of the substances terbium, dysprosium, samarium and iron. One end of the motion generator unit (8, 8A, 8B) is fixed to a supporting structure (9) and the opposite end thereof is fixed to said striking member (6). The motion generator unit (8, 8A, 8B) is surrounded by a magnetic coil (10, 10A, 10B) for applying a variable magnetic field to the motion generator unit, said magnetic field being variable in dependence of current supply to the coil.

  • Patent number: 4830601
Abstract: Method for the control of a burner equipped with an injector nozzle, said method comprising the steps of continuously during combustion optically monitoring the flame of the burner; subjecting the light from the burner to spectral analysis for determining the instantaneous value of the air factor in the combustion gases, and controlling the supply of fuel and/or combustion air to the burner in dependence of said instantaneous value of the air factor. The method is characterized in that light emitted from the central portion of the flame which penetrates through the nozzle opening through which fuel is injected into the combustion chamber is picked up in a point situated in the immediate vicinity of, behind and axially with said nozzle opening, said light being further conducted out of the nozzle for being subjected to spectral analysis.
