Patent number: 9723588Abstract: A method for determining a location of a wireless transmitter includes: receiving, at data processing hardware, receiver signals from corresponding receivers located within an observation area; estimating, by the data processing hardware, the location of the rogue transmitter; and reporting the estimated location of the rogue transmitter to a remote system in communication with the data processing hardware. Estimating the location of a rogue transmitter includes, for each receiver, determining a transmitter location contour about the receiver based on the corresponding at least one receiver signal and one or more propagation path loss functions and identifying an intersection of the transmitter location contours of the receivers as the estimated location of the rogue transmitter. Each propagation path loss function is based on terrain information corresponding to the observation area.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2016Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Carlos Urrutia, Guanghua Li, Jun Yin

Patent number: 9652957Abstract: Various arrangements for using multiple wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation to detect smoke by a smoke detector are present. Multiple modes of the smoke detector may be used in which a first wavelength of electromagnetic radiation is emitted into a smoke chamber while a second electromagnetic radiation emitter is disabled, a period of time is waited, and a second wavelength of electromagnetic radiation is emitted into the smoke chamber while the first emitter is disabled. Depending on the mode of the smoke detector, the period of wait time may be varied.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2016Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Carlos Urrutia, Adam Mittleman, Andrew Goldenson, Nicholas Webb, Mathias Schmidt, Anurag Gupta

Patent number: 9036794Abstract: Disclosed is a messaging system that provides additional information to a user device after determining the content of at least some of a message. The messaging system includes a speech to X conversion module which retrieves the additional information based on the content. An input-output module then transmits the message and the additional information to the user device.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2007Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Amit Mukhopadhyay, Carlos Urrutia-Valdes

Patent number: 8351374Abstract: The invention includes a method for determining an expenditure associated with a network. A method includes obtaining network information associated with a portion of a network, categorizing each of a respective plurality of cells as one of an aggregated cell and a non-aggregated cell, determining an aggregating node configuration for at least one aggregating node associated with at least one base station associated with an aggregated cell, determining a deaggregating node configuration for at least one deaggregating node associated with at least one of the at least one aggregating node, and determining the expenditure according to at least one of the aggregating node configuration and the deaggregating node configuration. The categorization of cells is performed using the network information.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2008Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Mohamed Lotfy El-Sayed, Amit Mukhopadhyay, Zulfiquar Sayeed, Carlos Urrutia-Valdes

Patent number: 7660267Abstract: User nodes are homed to network nodes in an IMS network or other communication system by determining a function hierarchy for functions provided by the network nodes. Starting with a function at an initial level of the function hierarchy, a predetermined criterion such as throughput-weighted distance is applied to assign a given user node to a particular network node providing that function. The homing process then proceeds through one or more additional levels of the function hierarchy to assign the given user node to at least one additional network node providing at least one other function identified in the additional level(s) of the function hierarchy. These operations are repeated for one or more additional user nodes until each of the user nodes is homed to one or more of the network nodes providing all of its required functions.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2008Date of Patent: February 9, 2010Assignee: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.Inventors: Raymond Abbott Sackett, Carlos Urrutia-Valdes
