  • Publication number: 20250066038
Abstract: A method of manufacturing with a robotic manufacturing system including a track extending along a length of a component of a partially manufactured item, wherein the component has a non-constant longitudinal shape, the track being supported independently of the partially manufactured item. The system includes a jointed member having an elongated arcuate shape, a mount longitudinally movable along the track and configured to receive the jointed member in an articulating manner, and an end effector movably mounted on the jointed member. The jointed member moves along a portion of the component length in a radial position sympathetic to the non-constant component longitudinal shape. The jointed member longitudinally moves relative to the mount along its elongated arcuate shape such that the jointed member moves in an arc spaced from and around an outer component surface. A portion of the end effector moves along a length of the jointed member.

  • Publication number: 20240326260
Abstract: An apparatus for performing operations on a part, and in particular on the fuselage of an aircraft. The apparatus utilizes a spool with a cable wound therearound to move end effectors. The ends of the cable are fixed to an arched beam. Thus, rotation of the spool either moves the beam or moves the spool. The apparatus moves along rails that may be mounted to a fixed structure like floors or walls.

  • Publication number: 20240326235
Abstract: An apparatus for performing operations on a part, and in particular on the fuselage of an aircraft. The apparatus utilizes movable arches which carry an and effector and which move along a track fixed to a structure. Additional, fixed arches are positioned at specific longitudinal positions and when the movable arches are aligned with the fixed arches, the end effector may move from the movable arch to the fixed arch.

  • Publication number: 20240181579
Abstract: A fastener delivery system with a fastener storage cassette, a cassette holding module, a selection chamber assembly, a delivery conduit, and an inspection sensor. The fastener storage cassette includes a plurality of individual fastener chambers each configured to loosely receive a fastener to be selected and delivered, each fastener chamber communicating with a separate air blast port, and, wherein the cassette holding module is configured to hold at least one fastener storage cassette. A movable selection chamber assembly is aligned with a desired cavity in the fastener storage cassette and an air blast moves the fastener to the selection chamber assembly where it can be moved to a receiver and passed to an end effector. The inspection sensor may determine if the fastener is the desired or appropriate fastener.

  • Publication number: 20040042797
Abstract: A free-space optical (FSO) transceiver head and mounting assembly to enable the FSO transceiver head to be mounted to a window. The FSO transceiver head has a binocular configuration including respective sets of transmit and receive optics configured to facilitate transmission and reception of optical signals. The mounting assembly provides a pair of adjustable axes to enable the FSO transceiver head to be rotated and tilted relative to an axis that is normal to the window. The mounting assembly also provides adjustable feet for fine-pointing. Upon assembly, the entire apparatus has a depth of approximately 3½ inches, enabling it to be deployed in a standard-sized window frame behind a window blind. The apparatus may also be deployed in vehicle windows and out-building windows. A breakaway feature is also provided such that the apparatus will break free from a window rather than having the window break when a sufficient force is applied to the mounting assembly and/or transceiver head.
