  • Publication number: 20230157912
Abstract: A patient support apparatus is provided for sensing and responding to an emergency event. The patient support apparatus includes a plurality of actuators to lift and lower a patient relative to a floor surface and to articulate one or more deck sections. An activator is coupled to the support structure to be actuated by a user to signal the emergency event. A plurality of electronic motion locks can be configured to a locked or unlocked state. In the locked state, a controller prevents operation of one or more of the actuators. The controller is configured to automatically reset the motion locks to their unlocked states in response to detecting the emergency event.

  • Publication number: 20230038537
Abstract: A patient transport apparatus includes a base, a patient support deck, a plurality of wheels, a plurality of brakes, and an electro-mechanical braking system. The electro-mechanical braking system includes a linkage, a manual actuator, and an electrical braking assembly. The linkage is operatively coupled to the brakes to place the brakes in a braked state, a released state, or other state. The manual actuator moves the linkage manually to place the brakes in one of the states. The electrical braking assembly includes an actuator assembly that moves the linkage with electrical power to place the brakes in one of the states.

The electro-mechanical braking system includes a linkage and an electrical braking assembly. The linkage is operatively coupled to the brakes to place the brakes in a braked state, a released state, or other state. The electrical braking assembly includes an actuator assembly that moves the linkage via a driving member. A user interface includes an input control for user engagement. A brake control circuit includes a hold circuit to generate an enable signal with a predetermined voltage in response to the user engagement with the input control, maintain the enable signal for a predetermined period following user disengagement with the input control, and operate the actuator assembly with the enable signal to move the driving member within the predetermined period.

  • Patent number: 10285885
Abstract: A cover for covering a portion of a hospital bed barrier that includes a sheet of material that has sufficient flexibility and elasticity to stretch from a first configuration to a second configuration. When in the first configuration, the cover is insufficient in size to cover at least a portion of a hospital bed barrier and, when in the second configuration, the cover is sufficient in size to cover at least a portion of a hospital bed barrier.
