  • Publication number: 20240267677
Abstract: An audio transducer includes a diaphragm assembly. The diaphragm assembly can include a diaphragm, an attachment portion that circumferentially surrounds the diaphragm, and a flexible surround extending between the diaphragm and the attachment portion. The audio transducer can include a voice coil coupled to the diaphragm where the voice coil has a voice coil lead. The audio transducer can include a carrier that circumferentially surrounds the voice coil. The carrier can include an annular mounting surface, with the attachment portion of the diaphragm assembly being able to attach to the mounting surface, and a channel formed in the mounting surface. The voice coil lead can extend through the channel.

  • Publication number: 20240196146
Abstract: A diaphragm for an audio transducer includes an annular body defining a central aperture, a first surface of the body extending between a radially inner edge adjacent the aperture and a radially outer edge, and a second surface of the body opposite the first surface, the second surface extending between the radially inner edge and the radially outer edge. Along a first azimuthal direction, the body has a first range of thicknesses extending between the first and second surfaces. Along a second azimuthal direction, the body has a second range of thicknesses extending between the first surface and the second surface, the second range of thicknesses being different than the first range of thicknesses.

  • Publication number: 20240107214
Abstract: Switch assemblies and network devices incorporating same. An example playback device includes a housing, one or more microphones, and a switch assembly configured to enable and disable the microphone(s). The switch assembly may include a slider cage coupled to the housing, an electrical actuator, and a sliding switch sub-assembly configured to slide laterally between first and second positions along a path constrained by the slider cage, the sliding switch sub-assembly including an actuator portion that extends through an opening in the housing to an exterior of the playback device and a translation component that converts lateral motion of the sliding switch sub-assembly between the first and second positions into vertical motion that activates the electrical actuator to enable the microphone(s) when the sliding switch sub-assembly is in the first position and deactivates the electrical actuator to disable the microphone(s) when the sliding switch sub-assembly is in the second position.

  • Publication number: 20220232313
Abstract: A playback device includes a housing defining an acoustic volume therein, one or more audio transducers disposed at least partially within the housing, and an acoustic port extending through the housing. The acoustic port includes a wall defining a first aperture, a second aperture, and a passageway extending therebetween. The wall is at least partially curved along an axial direction, and a plurality of vanes coupled to the wall extend into the passageway such that the vanes define a plurality of channels extending axially within the passageway.

  • Patent number: 10863257
Abstract: A method of assembling a loudspeaker may include resiliently coupling a voice coil assembly to a transducer basket, the voice coil assembly including a voice coil and first and second lead wires having corresponding proximal and distal ends, where the proximal ends of the lead wires are attached to the voice coil. The method also includes forming a first segment of the first lead wire into a first shape, and forming a second segment of the second lead wire into a second shape. The method also includes affixing an intermediate portion of the first lead wire to a first location on the transducer basket, and affixing an intermediate portion of the second lead wire to a second location on the transducer basket. The method also includes conductively coupling the distal ends of the first and second lead wires to a harness configured to directly connect to an amplifier board.
