  • Publication number: 20160317205
Abstract: A bone plate fixation system for fixation of the distal radius bone includes a bone plate having an elongate shaft portion and a triangular-shaped head portion, with each portion defining a number of bone screw openings extending therethrough for receipt of bone screws. The triangular-shaped head portion may define an elongate visualization window having a window length extending across a width of the bone plate. At least some of the openings include flexible fins protruding radially inward into the opening and deflectable by the head of a bone screw to retain the bone screw in position within the opening. In one embodiment, the bone plate has an outer perimeter that is substantially symmetrical relative to a longitudinal axis of the bone plate. In another embodiment, the elongate shaft portion includes an elongate slot having a length extending along the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 9125699
Abstract: Systems for reducing a fracture in a bone, comprising a bone plate and a polyaxial fastener. In some examples the head of the polyaxial fastener has a deformable portion. As a fastener is inserted into an opening of a bone plate, threads located within the opening deform the deformable portion to secure the fastener in place at a desired angle within the opening. The head of the fastener also includes a bottom portion that bears against a portion of the opening to move the bone plate relative to the underlying tissue. A securing member or other structure may be included at the interface of the head and the deformable portion to secure the deformable portion to the head. At least one flute may be included on the deformable portion that provides a lead-in for the threads within the opening to cut into the deformable portion.

  • Patent number: 7793104
Abstract: A system and method of security authentication and key management scheme in a multi-hop wireless network is provided herein with a hop-by-hop security model. The scheme adapts the 802.11r key hierarchy into the meshed AP network. In this approach, a top key holder (R0KH) derives and holds the top Pairwise Master Key (PMK—0) for each supplicant wireless device after the authentication process. All authenticator AP take the level one key holder (R1KH) role and receive the next level Pairwise Master Key (PMK—1) from R0KH. The link level data protection key is derived from PMK—1 via the 802.11i 4-way handshaking.

  • Patent number: 4827881
Abstract: An oil pump for an internal combustion engine includes an annular boss on a front cover of the engine, a counterbore in the front cover behind the boss, crankshaft driven oil pump elements in the counterbore, and a planar closure plate attached to the front cover over the counterbore and capturing the pump elements. The closure plate has a pair of raised protuberances thereon which span the chain drive chamber of the engine behind the front cover and which straddle the chain within the chamber, each of the protuberances having a flat wall around respective ones of a pair of ports in the closure plate. One of the ports is connected to the pump intake and the other is connected to the pump discharge. A pair of face seal assemblies on the cylinder block of the engine around low and high pressure galleries engage the flat walls of the protuberances when the front cover is installed on the cylinder block and define fluid seals around the ports.

  • Patent number: 4137708
Abstract: A jet propulsion engine and a method of operating a jet propulsion engine for propulsion of an aircraft over a wide range of speed from zero to supersonic. The engine is a turbofan type with a duct burner and with separate variable exhausts from the duct burner and from the gas turbine engine. The gas turbine core engine includes a gas generator and a low pressure turbine which drives the fan. The fan includes variable outlet guide vanes and the low pressure turbine includes a variable first-stage nozzle. The engine is operated as a normal duct burning by-pass jet engine from zero air speed up to about Mach 3. The fuel to the core engine is shut off through a transition range of speeds. Above this range the engine operates with only the duct burner supplied with fuel, with the gas generator windmilling, and with the low pressure turbine continuing to drive the fan to supercharge the duct burner, which operates as a supercharged ramjet.
