  • Patent number: 4469100
Abstract: An extraction device for removing foreign bodies such as a uretal stone from a human body passage. A double lumen catheter is provided having a tubular balloon attached circumjacent to the distal end thereof. A suction lumen is open at the distal end and a pressure applying lumen is open to the interior of the balloon. The balloon includes a lower reentrant portion. After insertion of the distal end of the catheter into the body passage such as the ureter to the point of a stone, the balloon is inflated dilating the ureter. The catheter is slowly withdrawn causing intussusception of the distal end of the tubular balloon, thereby surrounding and captivating the stone. Continued withdrawal extracts the stone without trauma to the passage wall.

  • Patent number: 4192301
Abstract: A disposable re-breathing apparatus for use with hyperventilating patients has a disposable, flexible polymer bag which attaches to a nose/mouth mask and an air control valve located between the mask and the disposable bag which adjusts the ratio of re-breathed air to fresh air through a fresh air inlet. The fresh air inlet has a check valve preventing exhaling air therethrough and a pressure relief valve may be provided to release re-breathed air when the polymer bag becomes filled.

  • Patent number: 4091478
Abstract: An apparatus for raising and lowering invalids into a bath tub having a frame that fits onto the bath tub with a chair rockably mounted to the frame. The frame has a vertically extending and rotatably mounted, externally threaded member; and a chair supporting frame portion has an internally threaded sleeve riding thereon and supporting the chair. The chair is rockably mounted to the chair support frame and interconnected with a ratchet so as to rotate the elongated, threaded member with the ratchet as the chair rocks back and forth.
