The passive adjustment mechanism is configured to automatically and passively vary a length of a perimeter that is defined by the helmet responsive to a tension force that is applied to the passive adjustment mechanism by a remainder of the helmet. Some helmet fit systems further include a manual adjustment mechanism configured to receive user input for selectively increasing and decreasing the length of the perimeter.
