  • Patent number: 6935888
Abstract: An FPC connector (10, 10?) comprises a housing (20, 20?) and a pressing member (30, 30?) mounted on the housing rotatable from an open position to a closed position. The housing defines a pair of posts (28a, 28a?) each having a protruding hook (208, 280?) and a pair of notches (24a) each having first and second slanted surfaces (244, 242). A resilient portion (24b) is defined at one side of each notch. The pressing member has a pressing body (32, 32?) having shafts (36a) and L-shaped resilient arms (34a, 34a?). The isolated portions and the first and second slanted facilitate the insertion of the shafts into the notches. The L-shaped resilient arms (34a, 34a?) are provided to engage the protruding hooks of the posts to lock the pressing member at the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6902425
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) includes an insulative housing (2) and a plurality of terminals (3) received in the housing. The housing has a front end with an opening for receiving an end of the FPC in engagement with contacting portions of the terminals, and a back end with a plurality of T-shaped protrusions (202), and a side end with two latching arms (21). An actuator (4) is pivotably mounted relative to the housing for floating movement between a first position allowing free insertion of the FPC into the opening and a second position biasing the FPC against the terminals. A shielding (5) is engaged with the back end and two latching arms of the housing for protecting the connector from Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) during transferring signals between the FPC and the PCB by the connector. The shielding can also reinforce the strength of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20050032428
Abstract: A Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) connector (1) includes a housing (2), a number of contacts (3,31) received in the housing, an actuator rotatably mounted on the housing, and a shielding (5) attached to the housing. The shielding substantially surrounds a top surface (201) of the housing. A number of securing slots (500) are defined in the shielding and engage with protrusions (202) of the housing for positioning the shielding on the housing. Grounding tabs (501) extend from the shielding for mating with corresponding grounding pads of a PCB. The shielding and the grounding tabs extending therefrom can provide EMI protection to the connector. The shielding can also reinforce the strength of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6776664
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) includes a housing (10), and a plurality of terminals (12, 13) received in the housing. The housing defines side surfaces (1020, 1020′) each forming a plurality of spacers (1022, 1022′). Two adjacent spacers and the corresponding side surface cooperatively define a terminal-passage (1021, 1026) for receiving a terminal therein. Each spacer is formed with at least one retention portion (1023) having a slanted guiding surface (1024) and a positioning surface (1025). The retention portions of each terminal-passage prevent the corresponding terminal from moving between the retention portions and the corresponding side surface. Moreover, two adjacent opposing guiding surfaces of the terminal-passage guide a mating contact of an associated electrical connector until the mating contact is received between two adjacent opposing positioning surfaces of the terminal-passage. Thus the mating contact is securely and reliably received in the terminal-passage.

  • Patent number: 6384794
Abstract: A slot antenna assembly for an electronic device comprises a slot antenna body (1), an adjustable tuning apparatus (2) mounted to the slot antenna body and a coaxial feeder cable (3) electrically connected with the slot antenna body by the adjustable tuning apparatus. An inner core (31) of the coaxial cable feeds through a holding portion (21) of the adjustable tuning apparatus and contacts a second slide slot (13) in the slot antenna body, establishing a first feed point. A braiding layer (33) is soldered to a slide portion (23) of the adjustable tuning apparatus, which contacts the slot antenna body at a second feed point. The adjustable tuning apparatus slides along a slot (11) in the slot antenna body, changing the operating frequency band of the slot antenna assembly by changing the position of the feed points.
