  • Patent number: 7241960
Abstract: A button assembly comprising a panel having a hole and a button configured to extend through the hole. The assembly further includes an integral switch pad and gasket member, with the switch pad having a base and a flexible dome including a contact extending from the base. The gasket member is integrally connected to the switch pad at a transition line and includes an opening. The button is configured to be placed through the hole in the panel and the gasket member is configured to be repositioned relative to the switch pad along the transition line such that the opening in the gasket member is aligned with the hole in the panel and the button engages the gasket member. The flexible dome of the switch pad is configured to be aligned with the hole in the panel such that depression of the button collapses the dome of the switch pad.

  • Patent number: 7022929
Abstract: A control assembly comprising a switch pad and a circuit board. The switch pad has a connection member, a first contact adjacent the connection member, and a flexible dome having a second contact. The circuit board is engaged with the switch pad and includes an engagement area engaged with the connection member, third contacts adjacent the engagement area and fourth contacts. The flexible dome of the switch pad is configured to be depressed to engage the second contact with the fourth contacts to electrically connect the fourth contacts. The first contact electrically connects the third contacts when the circuit board is engaged with the switch pad. The first contact and the third contacts form a first circuit for determining if the switch pad is properly engaged with the circuit board such that the second contact will form a second circuit with the fourth contacts when the flexible dome is depressed.

  • Patent number: 6606252
Abstract: An encased electrical assembly includes a housing, a printed circuit board (PCB) and a cover. The housing includes a plurality of receiving apertures and the PCB includes a plurality of securing apertures shaped to receive a conductive fastener for securing the PCB to the housing. The PCB includes a plurality of conductive traces with two of the conductive traces having first ends electrically connected to a different one of two electrical contacts that are electrically accessible from outside the housing and second ends routed to different ones of the securing apertures. Each of the remaining conductive traces are routed between a different pair of the securing apertures such that when each of the securing apertures receives a secured conductive fastener, continuity is achieved between all of the conductive traces. The cover, when attached to the housing, obscures at least one of the conductive fasteners.

  • Patent number: 5623965
Abstract: A rubber valve plate is sandwiched between a stator and a cover. Ports in the stator for coupling to a vacuum source and vacuum motors are aligned with poppets molded in the valve plate. A manifold in the plate joins regions surrounding the valves to couple the vacuum source to all the valves. Openings in the cover plate allow a dome of each poppet to protrude. A rotary actuator adjacent the cover is configured to selectively engage the domes to actuate certain poppets which are moved against the stator to close the port to vacuum or are allowed to move toward the cover to connect the port to vacuum.

  • Patent number: 5623854
Abstract: A control knob is secured to a D-shaped shaft or lever of a switch or potentiometer which is supported on a control panel. The control panel is molded plastic and is furnished with detent ramps or indentations in its surface adjacent the shaft or lever. A D-spring between the knob and the shaft retains the knob in the shaft and has a laterally extending leaf spring with a detent button formed in the leaf near its free end. The leaf spring biases the detent button against the detent ramps to afford detent action upon rotation of a shaft or linear movement of a lever. The detent ramps are formed in a forward-facing surface of the panel or in a wall formed by a recess or aperture in the panel. The leaf spring is shaped to accommodate the position of the detent ramps.

  • Patent number: 5596343
Abstract: A backlit LCD is mounted in a controller having push buttons operating switch elements in a molded elastomeric switch pad for bridging pairs of switch terminals on a circuit board. The switch pad is white to reflect light and a portion of the switch pad behind the LCD is curved to serve as a reflector. A lamp between the display and the reflector illuminates the rear of the display directly and via reflection from the curved surface of the switch pad. This obviates the necessity of a separate reflector part in the controller assembly.

  • Patent number: 5582067
Abstract: A gear and a rack attached to the gear periphery are molded in one piece. A housing recess contains the gear and a channel accommodates the rack so that, as the gear is turned by a knob, the rack is driven by the gear so that it wraps or unwraps about the gear and a free end of the rack moves along the channel. The channel is linear or curved to determine the direction of motion of the free end. A cable or other device is controlled by the free end of the rack.
