  • Patent number: 6836555
Abstract: A payment product has a writing area (6c) which is intended for a user's signature. In the writing area there is a first position-coding pattern (5) which makes possible digital recording of the signature. The first position-coding pattern is a subset of a larger second position-coding pattern. The payment product is used in a payment system which is based on electronic payment information, which has been recorded by means of the position-coding pattern, being sent to a server unit, which utilizes the position-coding pattern to check that the payment information is valid.

  • Patent number: 6590612
Abstract: An image processing system for optical systems including microscopes which separately captures (grabs) different portions of the electromagnetic spectrum as emitted from an object as separate images. Each of the separate images are individually focused and then aligned with the other images to produce a composite image. In one embodiment, the different portions correspond to red, green, and blue and the composite image is displayed to the user on as a monitor without any need for an eyepiece.

  • Patent number: 6563951
Abstract: In a method for matching two images, each consisting of a plurality of pixels and having partially overlapping contents, the degree of correspondence between the contents of the images is determined for different displacement positions representing different overlappings of the images. More specifically, a plurality of numbers are determined for each one of a plurality of said displacement positions. Each number is formed with the aid of pixel values from both images and is used to simultaneously retrieve predefined overlap assessment values for at least two of said displacement positions. The overlap assessment values retrieved are subsequently used to determine the degree of correspondence between the images for the different displacement positions. The method is carried out with the aid of a computer and can be implemented as a computer program.

  • Publication number: 20030061188
Abstract: An information management system is intended for management of digitally represented information which is associated with absolute positions on an imaginary surface (200). The imaginary surface (200) contains at least two regions (201-208), each of which is dedicated to predetermined management of the digitally represented information. In the system the management of the digitally represented information is carried out on the basis of the region affiliation of the absolute positions associated with the information. The system is suitably based on use of a position-coding pattern which defines the imaginary surface (200) and which in parts is applicable on different bases. The system makes possible both digital recording of information and control of how the information thus recorded is to be managed.

  • Patent number: 6529645
Abstract: In a method for recording a selected sequence of characters with the aid of a pen, the latter is passed over the sequence of characters and a plurality of images, whose contents partially overlap, are recorded simultaneously with the aid of a light-sensitive sensor (8) with a two-dimensional sensor surface. The recorded images are put together, horizontally as well as vertically, into an image. Subsequently, the characters in the composite image are identified and stored in the pen with the aid of a predetermined character code formal. The putting-together, the character identification, and the storing are carried out with the aid of a signal processing unit (20-24). By the method and the pen compensation is obtained for different speeds of movement and different angles of rotation of the pen.

  • Patent number: 6502756
Abstract: A product which is intended to be used in connection with the recording of information has a surface on which there are a plurality of information alternatives which each have an associated code area. The surface is further provided with a two-dimensional position code which codes coordinates for a plurality of positions on the surface; which is unrelated to the information to be recorded and which enables recording of a desired information alternative by reading the position code for a position in the code area associated with the desired information alternative. The product can advantageously be used in restaurants, when booking trips, making hotel reservations and the like. A system for recording information, as well as a method and software for making the product are also described.

  • Publication number: 20020198847
Abstract: A method and system includes sharing revenue between a plurality of parties providing a technology service in which an end user uses a position indicia reading stylus to collect position information from a product having position identifying indicia thereon and a network infrastructure communicates a signal representing, or derived from, position information collected from said stylus to a network node that performs a technological service based on the signal. An agreement is formed between the parties regarding a percentage of revenue that each party should receive. The service is provided via the network infrastructure to end users for a fee. The fee is collected from the end users, and a portion of the fee is distributed to each party based on the percentage of revenue allocated to each party in the agreement.

  • Publication number: 20020048404
Abstract: A system and a corresponding method for determining a spatial relationship between a surface having a predetermined pattern and an apparatus are disclosed. A portion of the surface may be imaged and compared with the predetermined pattern. The comparison produces at least one reference measurement that may be used to determine a spatial relationship expressed in at least parameters that define an orientation of the surface. By using knowledge of the predetermined pattern together with an algebraic model of the image formation by the apparatus, a numerical adaptation can be performed. Parameters obtained from the adaptation can then be used to calculate the spatial relationship between the apparatus and the surface in terms of, for example, a distance between the apparatus and the surface or an angle between the surface and an axis extending through the apparatus.
