  • Publication number: 20090181887
Abstract: The present invention relates to molecules, compositions and methods suitable for the treatment or prevention of biliary dyskinesia and/or pain and/or discomfort originating from the biliary tree. The peptide hormone glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) has both anti-secretory effects and smooth muscle relaxatory properties in the gastrointestinal tract. GLP-1 exists in several forms, where the natural occurring GLP-1 molecules are GLP-1 (1-37), GLP-1 (7-37), and the amidated versions GLP-1 (1-36)amide, GLP-1 (7-36)amide. Other molecules capable of binding to and activating the GLP-1 receptor is herein included in the tern GLP-1 molecules. GLP-1 molecules may be naturally occurring or homologues of GLP-1 having one or more amino acid substitutions or modifications. The GLP-1 molecules are used for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment or prevention of biliary dyskinesia and/or pain and/or discomfort originating from the biliary tree.

  • Publication number: 20090104336
Abstract: A disposable cartridge (10), which is suitable for use in a process of preparing a beverage, comprises a pump unit (1). A duct system (30) of the pump unit (1) has a first duct (31) and a second duct (32) which merges into the first duct (31), wherein an angle (?) between the ducts (31, 32) is considerably smaller than 90°. In a process of preparing a beverage, a first fluid is supplied by an inlet portion of the first duct (31), and a flow of a second fluid is supplied by the second duct (32). At the position where the ducts (31, 32) meet; a transfer of momentum from the flow of the second fluid to the first fluid takes place, so that an underpressure is obtained, as a result of which the first fluid is put in motion. Furthermore, a joint flow of the first fluid and the second fluid is obtained in an outlet portion of the first duct (31).

  • Publication number: 20080271454
Abstract: A steam powered engine system wherein hot exhaust gas produced by a small secondary engine is used to heat water to a temperature above 212 degrees F., the superheated water being injected into a cylinder containing hot compressed gas. The water then flash expands into steam to drive a piston. The hot exhaust gas from the secondary engine is further utilized to scavenge spent gas and liquid from the cylinder during the return stroke of the piston, as well as to maintain a suitably high temperature within the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7339882
Abstract: A method for frame and frequency synchronization of an OFDM signal and a signal for transmitting an OFDM signal is described, the purpose of which is to impress a pilot phase profile that is then used at the receiving end for frame and frequency synchronization on pilots which are already contained in the OFDM signal for channel estimation. This has the advantage that no additional transmission capacity has to be used for the synchronization. The method according to the present invention is initiated by a rough time synchronization unit connected upline, which searches for the beginning of the guard interval in the OFDM signal. The comparison between a stored pilot phase profile and the received subcarrier symbol is performed using a cross-correlation, whose result is then evaluated to determine the frame and frequency synchronization.

  • Publication number: 20070035062
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing an HTSC band on a substrate band, for example, a strong bond being created between the substrate band and the band as a result of the production process (e.g. PVD process or galvanic deposition). According to the invention, separation of the highly adhesive band from the substrate band is aided by the fact that the substrate band is made of a shape memory alloy, the shape memory of the band being activated in a separating device by heating and, possibly, cooling. Tension-related stress is generated in the joint on the boundary surface between the bands as a result of the substrate being deformed such that separation of the band from the substrate band is aided or even caused. Also disclosed is a production facility in which the substrate band is made of a shape memory alloy.

  • Patent number: 7175731
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing tearable sheets, wherewith each sheet obtains a perfectly smooth tear edge when torn-off. The method comprises the steps of: punching each sheet transversely of the fibers of said sheet from a first side of the sheet to an extend corresponding to a firs portion of the thickness of the sheet; and punching each sheet transversely of the fibers of said sheet from a second side of the sheet to an extent corresponding to a second portion of the thickness of said sheet; wherein the sum of said first thickness portion and said second thickness portion is smaller than the thickness of the sheet, and wherein the second punching operation is performed parallel with the first punching operation but displaced in a plane parallel with said first and said second sides of the sheet, said displacement being adapted for tear-off purposes.
