The casting mould according to the invention makes it possible to reliably produce castings of a highly complex shape, even from alloys which can be difficult to cast using conventional methods and whose casting results can be of an unreliable quality.

    Abstract: A Ni/Cd or Ni/hydride storage battery of the button cell type has a positive electrode tablet based on a nickel hydroxide powder having an active mass comprised of spherical particles with a high pycnometric density (d>3.5 g/cm.sup.3). In contrast to conventional nickel hydroxide powders having irregular particles, a better space utilization is achieved during dry pressing due to a narrow particle-size distribution having a maximum in a range of from 5 to 20 .mu.m, and due to the rounded particle surfaces. The specific volumetric capacity of the resulting button cell electrode is consequently approximately 25% higher than that of a conventional positive button cell electrode. A microporous separator having pore sizes smaller than the mean diameter of the spherical particles prevents the danger of short circuits.

    Abstract: A carbon-black-containing gas-consuming layer on the surface of a negative electrode is produced from a mixture of an aqueous carbon black dispersion and an aqueous PTFE dispersion, both of which contain a surfactant of the same type (either cationic, anionic or nonionic) for the purpose of stabilization. The stabilized particles in the final gas-consuming dispersion are formed by coating PTFE particles with smaller carbon particles, preferably with an interlayer or envelope of a surfactant film. Pores and cracks operate to increase the effective catalytic surface area for oxygen gas. Additions of polyacrylic acid esters are suitable for adjusting the viscosity of the dispersion. The dispersion is applied to the electrode by immersion or spraying.
